Role Description The Banquet Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting menu items for weddings, corporate events, and special functions at The Royal Ashburn Golf Club. This full-time, on-site role is based in Whitby, ON and involves working closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to ensure consistent quality, portion control, and timely service for large groups. Daily tasks include setting up banquet stations, preparing ingredients, following standardized recipes, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards in all kitchen areas.

The Banquet

Cook coordinates with serving staff to ensure smooth service during events, assists with buffet and plated meal execution,



and helps with inventory, receiving, and proper storage of food items. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required based on event schedules.

Qualifications

- Strong banquet and high-volume cooking skills, including experience with buffet and plated service, food preparation, and presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices in accordance with local health regulations.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes, portion guidelines, and plating specifications while maintaining consistent quality.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff during busy events.
- Good time management and organizational abilities, including working efficiently under pressure and meeting service deadlines.
- Previous experience as a banquet cook, line cook, or similar kitchen role in a restaurant, hotel, or event venue is an asset.
- Culinary training, apprenticeship, or relevant certification is an advantage; Food Handler or equivalent certification preferred.
- Capability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry supplies, and work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
