Founded in 1972, NCO primarily works alongside relatives exiting western justice systems, their families, and communities, supporting healing journeys rooted in dignity, culture, and self-determination.

Bimosay Wiiji-Manido Navigator – Position Summary The Bimosay Wiiji-Manido Navigator provides culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and relative-centered support to relatives transitioning from custody to community. Through pre-release planning, housing coordination, systems navigation, and advocacy, the Bimosay Wiiji-Manido Navigator helps relatives overcome barriers, connect with community and diversion supports, and work toward their personal goals. This role provides short-term follow-up support while fostering stability, spiritual and physical wellness, and successful reintegration through meaningful connections to culture and community.

Responsible For

Program and Operational Support

- Support safe, organized, and relative-centred daily operations.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation, communication, and reporting.
- Coordinate cultural programming, housing and resource appointments,
- Support healing, cultural, educational, and reintegration opportunities for relatives.
- Promote operational standards, safety practices, and continuous improvement.
- Identify concerns and communicate recommendations to the Bimosay Wiiji-Manido Pathfinder

Relative Support and Operations

- Collaborate with Pathfinders, Elders, and community partners.
- Identify, coordinate, and connect relatives with appropriate community resources, services, and supports.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, service providers, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and support services.
- Assist with healing journey planning, progress reviews, documentation, and required reporting.
- Provide daily support, guidance, and coaching to relatives within a secure, healing-focused environment.
- Promote dignity, Indigenous healing approaches, and holistic support for relatives.

Qualifications





- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; a combination of lived experience, maturity, education, training, and community involvement will be considered.
- Minimum two years of experience in a residential, healing lodge, social service, or rehabilitative setting preferred.
- Experience working with, justice agencies, Indigenous organizations, or community-based support programs is considered an asset.
- Strong crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and other required software.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, mental health supports, interpersonal communication, and Indigenous healing approaches, including supporting individuals impacted by intergenerational and historical trauma.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, history, and ways of life.
- Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and other relevant legislation or initiatives.
- Hold and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence (preferred).
- Hold and maintain First Aid/CPR and Mental Health First Aid Certification.
- Hold and maintain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification or other training certifications required by NCO.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain satisfactory Criminal Check.

Work Environment and Expectations

- Work will occur in both institutional and community settings.
- Frequent interaction with individuals impacted by trauma, justice system involvement, addictions, and mental health challenges.
- Travel within Winnipeg and surrounding communities may be required.
- Some evening, weekend, and occasional on-call responsibilities may be required.
- Exposure to emotionally demanding situations requiring crisis intervention and safety planning.
- Commitment to Indigenous cultural safety, reconciliation, and community-based healing practices.

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
