Role Description The Business Loans Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Haileybury, ON. This position is responsible for managing the full lending cycle, including initial client contact, loan origination, assessment of business plans, and preparation of credit applications.

Day-to-day tasks include meeting with prospective and current clients, gathering financial information, performing credit and risk analysis, and making recommendations for loan approvals in line with organizational policies. The officer will monitor existing loan portfolios, track repayments, provide ongoing advice to borrowers, and maintain accurate documentation and records.



The role also involves collaborating with internal colleagues and external partners to improve lending programs, deliver excellent customer service, and support broader business advisory services.

Qualifications

- Experience in loan origination and working in Loan Officer or similar lending roles.
- Knowledge of finance principles and practices, including financial statement review and cash flow analysis.
- Underwriting skills with the ability to assess credit risk and evaluate business viability.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build respectful, trust-based relationships with diverse clients.
- Post-secondary education in finance, business, economics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with office software, lending systems, and accurate data entry and documentation practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to explain financial concepts in an accessible way.
- Knowledge of small business operations and community economic development is an asset.
- Ability to work in office in Haileybury, ON, and collaborate effectively within a small, community-focused team.
