Continuing Education | Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts)
AUArts Continuing Education is seeking experienced artists, designers, creative professionals, and industry practitioners interested in teaching in-person courses and workshops in Calgary.
We are building our pool of contract instructors across areas including visual arts, craft, design, photography, digital and creative technologies, animation, professional practice, creative entrepreneurship, and youth/family arts programming. We also welcome expertise in emerging areas relevant to artists, designers, and creative professionals.
Specific Areas of instruction include:
· Facilitating Parent/Child Art programs (ages 3-5 and 6-8)
· Portrait Drawing
· Jewellery Design
· Figure Painting
· Zines
What We’re Looking For
Applicants should have
- Demonstrated professional or industry expertise in their field;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- An ability to translate their expertise into engaging learning experiences;
- Availability to teach in person in Calgary, which is our highest current instructional need, particularly for studio-based, visual arts, design, and community programming; and
- Interest and ability to teach online,
particularly in digital and creative technology areas such as Blender, Unity, and other emerging digital tools and technologies, as online programming.
Contractor Requirements
Teaching assignments are offered on an independent contractor basis and are subject to program needs, scheduling, and enrollment.
Previous teaching experience is an asset but is not required.
Contract instructors must meet AUArts contracting requirements, including appropriate insurance coverage. Those teaching children or youth under 18 must also provide a current Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, prior to the assignment.
