About the Role

As a Carpenter, you'll play a vital lead-by-example role on our field team at 27 Contracting. You'll work on a wide variety of projects, from custom residential renovations and new builds to commercial jobs and specialized shoreline work. Your primary goal will be to execute high-quality carpentry work while working closely with project managers, site supervisors, and trade partners to drive projects forward.

Beyond hands-on construction, you’ll help guide junior crew members, troubleshoot site challenges, and ensure our job sites remain safe, efficient, and well-organized.

What You'll Be Doing

- Carpentry Execution: Perform a broad range of skilled carpentry tasks across all project phases, including selective demolition, structural framing, concrete formwork, exterior envelope work, finish carpentry, and custom installations.
- Site Leadership & Guidance: Lead tasks on-site, direct junior carpenters or laborers, and ensure work aligns with project plans, building codes, and 27 Contracting’s quality standards.
- Plan Reading & Layout: Read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to perform precise site layouts, material take-offs, and structural execution.
- Subcontractor & Safety Coordination: Collaborate effectively with specialized subcontractors and trade partners on-site while strictly upholding WHMIS, Working at Heights, and company safety protocols.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identify constructability issues or site conflicts and work with the project team to implement practical, high-quality solutions.

What We're Looking For

- Experience:



5–7+ years of hands-on carpentry experience in residential, commercial, or civil/shoreline construction, with a strong portfolio of framing and finish work.
- Certifications: Valid WHMIS and Working at Heights/Fall Protection certifications are required. Red Seal Carpenter certification or equivalent formal trade training is a strong asset. Additional equipment operator certifications (EWP, skid steer, telehandler) are a major plus.
- Skills: Exceptional blueprint reading, layout, and precision measurement skills. Proven ability to work independently or lead a small team, with strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and a steadfast commitment to job site safety. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- Transportation: You must have a reliable form of transportation to get to various job sites.

Work Environment: This is an in office position. While our typical work week is Monday to Friday, there may be opportunities for overtime and weekend work based on project needs.
