The Position

As a Cook, at the commissary kitchen of Fireside Catering, you will be responsible for prepping ingredients for a wide variety of menus for high end weddings in a scratch kitchen. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cooking, excellent knife skills, and experience in all stations of a professional kitchen (fry, saute, grill, ovens, broil). This job has flexible hours and can work well combined with other jobs.

There are both full-time and part-time hours available. Typical hours are 8am - 4pm.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for dishes, including cutting, chopping, and measuring ingredients
- Follow recipes and directions provided by the Chefs to ensure that all dishes are prepared consistently and to high quality standards




- Work with other kitchen staff members to ensure that all prep lists are completed and have been made correctly and in a timely manner.
- Label and store all prepped food items and ingredients properly.
- Ensure that all food is prepared and presented in accordance with food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen area, including proper storage and labeling of all food items

Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
- Desire to cultivate your culinary skills; learn proper knife skills, baking, etc.
- Take pride in your job – We use ingredients from our own farm, The Farm at Gibbet Hill and many local vendors.
- Strong communication skills, ability to follow direction and ability to work in a fast paced team environment
