First Alliance Church is seeking a Chef to lead back-of-house culinary execution for Harvest Ministry at FAC Deerfoot (40 hours per week).

In this role, you will ensure every meal prepared for catering events, the Bistro, and ministry offerings reflects culinary excellence, strict food safety, exact inventory management, and the heart of Christ. You will oversee kitchen operations, train culinary volunteers, enforce cleaning standard operating procedures, and maintain an encouraging, Christ-centred kitchen culture.

Role Specifics

- Lead back-of-house kitchen operations, food preparation, batch cooking, BEO event catering execution, and support for seasonal Bistro menus.
- Manage daily prep lists, weekly production planning, end-of-day food transfers, and proper handling of leftovers and donations.
- Maintain strict sanitation, food safety, FIFO inventory rotation, and date labelling according to Alberta Health Services regulations.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, daily/weekly/monthly cleaning schedules, and equipment-specific startup and shutdown SOPs.
- Conduct weekly inventory counts for food, packaging, and cleaning supplies; inspect incoming deliveries for quality and quantity.




- Partner with the Kitchen Manager on recipe costing, menu costing, and seasonal menu/recipe approvals.
- Train, delegate, mentor, and spiritually encourage culinary staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

- Alignment with First Alliance Church's statement of faith, ministry vision, and values.
- Culinary degree/diploma or Red Seal certification preferred, or equivalent commercial kitchen experience.
- Valid Alberta Food Safety Certification required.
- Demonstrated expertise in batch preparation, volume catering, and standardized recipes.
- Servant-hearted attitude with a passion for teaching, encouraging volunteers, and fostering team culture
