Your Role This Child Services Leader will be responsible for assisting in the daily operations of child care services and programs offered by the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo.

The Child Services

Leader will be respectful of children and parents and will be responsible for making sure that the area remains clean, protected, and well maintained. This position will require an individual to exemplify exceptional customer service and will be an important role amongst the Sport & Recreation Department.

Your Responsibilities

- Organize the daily operations of child minding/child care services and programming to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the programs at RRC facilities.
- Engage with children in day-to-day activities and create age appropriate activities that promote learning and development.
- Provide a safe and secure environment according to the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo policies and procedures.
- Assist with sanitizing toys and child care area.
- Supervise the Indoor Playground area and enforce rules for all guests.
- Provide parents with information regarding staff, scheduling, expectations, services, and planned activities.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all guests.
- Checking in/out children in childmind. Monitoring memberships and taking payment.
- Lead guests through themed arts and craft projects or games and activities.
- Provide insight into programming and emergency procedures.
- Fully engage and participate with the children and the events.
- Establishes and maintains a cooperative/collaborative working relationship with other departments within the RRC through positive
- All other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Education & Experience
- Minimum 15 years of age.
- Minimum completion of Grade 10
- Current Intermediate First Aid/CPR/AED certificate (including CPR C)
- Post-Secondary Child Development courses is an asset.
- Previous child programming and delivery experience is an asset.
- High 5 Training is an asset.




- Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is an asset.
- Experience coaching or babysitting is an asset.
- Experience with working with children with disabilities is an asset.
- Experience in customer service is an asset.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thrive in a team environment, enjoy working as a team member as well as independently
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent understanding of a child’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social development.
- Strong programming capability.
- Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Strong understanding of standard child care guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to work with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to engage in continuous learning and on the job training.

Working Conditions
- This position requires a flexible schedule including statutory holidays, early morning, late night, and weekend work.
- This position may include heavy lifting of children, supplies and equipment up to 50lbs.
- This position may be exposed to loud noises and will require an individual to be able to concentrate in a busy environment.
- The position requires the individual to be comfortable in chest deep water for programming purposes.
