Civil Engineer – Residential Property Development (Luanda)

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Civil Engineer role based in Luanda, Angola, dedicated to the group's residential property development portfolio.

The Civil

Engineer will design, review, and supervise civil works for residential buildings and housing developments, from earthworks and foundations through structures, finishes, and handover. Daily responsibilities include preparing engineering plans, calculations, and technical reports; coordinating with project managers, architects, contractors, and site teams; and overseeing construction to ensure compliance with approved designs, budgets, schedules, safety standards, and local regulations.



The role involves planning and optimizing site layouts and infrastructure for residential developments — internal roads and access, water supply and sewage networks, drainage and stormwater systems, and utility connections.

The Civil

Engineer will also contribute to quantity take-offs and cost estimates, contractor evaluation, quality control of materials and workmanship, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the group's quality and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

- Strong background in Civil Engineering, with practical experience in residential or building construction design and related project work.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams of engineers, architects, and other technical professionals.
- Proficiency in planning civil infrastructure for housing developments, including site development, utilities, and internal road networks.
- Knowledge of stormwater management principles, drainage design, and environmental compliance for urban and residential sites.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field; membership or eligibility for registration with the Ordem dos Engenheiros de Angola is an asset.
- Familiarity with Angolan construction regulations, licensing processes, and applicable technical standards; knowledge of Eurocodes or equivalent international standards is an advantage.
- Experience with CAD and civil design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) and strong technical drawing and documentation skills.
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple work fronts and deadlines on-site.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and sustainable engineering practices; fluency in Portuguese required, working English is an advantage.
