Mississauga

A well-established, full-service mid-size law firm in Mississauga is seeking an experienced Real Estate & Development Law Clerk to join their growing real estate practice. This is an excellent prospect for a clerk with a balanced commercial and development background to take on a dynamic, varied role — primarily supporting the Development team while handling ongoing commercial real estate work across the broader group.

Responsibilities

- Manage condominium and subdivision development project files from initial registration through to final closing, including interim closings and phased unit closings

- Handle commercial real estate transactions — acquisitions, dispositions, and financings — across a range of asset classes including industrial, retail, and vacant land

- Act on financing files for lenders and borrowers, including bank, institutional, and private lender-side transactions

- Draft and review closing documentation, including purchase and sale closing documents, mortgage security documents, requisitions, undertakings, reporting letters, and statements of adjustments

- Prepare, review, and evaluate title and off-title due diligence matters; prepare due diligence memos and title search summaries

- Prepare documents on Teraview, including transfers, charges, discharges, applications, easements, and notices

- Calculate, draft, and analyze trust ledgers, advance statements,

and other financial documents; manage trust fund receipts and disbursements in compliance with LSO and Lawpro requirements

- Order and process title insurance policies across a variety of transaction types

- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, lenders, developers, title insurers, and government offices at all stages of a matter

- Manage a mixed and shifting file load — the overflow component is an ongoing and expected part of this role, not limited to slower periods

- Collaborate with and delegate to legal assistants, support staff, and the accounting team

- Support and mentor articling and summer students as matters require

Qualifications

- Minimum 3–5 years of commercial real estate law clerk experience in an Ontario law firm, with meaningful exposure to both commercial transactions and development work

- Law Clerk diploma or equivalent required

- Proficiency in Teraview

- Strong written and verbal communication skills — you will be corresponding directly with clients, opposing counsel, and developers

- Excellent organizational and file management skills, with the ability to manage high volume and shifting priorities under deadline pressure

- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while contributing as part of a collaborative team

- Adaptable and solutions-oriented — this role requires genuine versatility across practice areas
