CCX – Completions, Commissioning & Execution

Job Summary

Elevate Energy Group is hiring Commissioning Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians to support commissioning and turnaround work on industrial energy projects across Alberta. Working directly with our CCX team, the successful candidate will help bring electrical, instrumentation, and control systems online safely, on schedule, and to the quality standard our clients expect. This is a full time position based in Alberta, with regular travel to project and turnaround sites across the province.

Key Responsibilities

Instrumentation & Controls Commissioning

- Perform loop checks, function tests, and calibrations on instrumentation and control systems.
- Support integration testing between electrical, instrumentation, and DCS/PLC control systems, confirming signals and interlocks perform as designed.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and control discrepancies identified during pre-commissioning and commissioning, working with engineering to resolve them.

Electrical Commissioning

- Conduct continuity testing, motor bumps, VFD testing, EHT programming, and hi-pot testing on electrical equipment.
- Support energization activities and post-energization checks in coordination with the commissioning team and client representatives.
- Identify and report electrical non-conformances or deficiencies for correction prior to system turnover.

Documentation & Redlines

- Complete pre-commissioning and commissioning checksheets accurately and in real time as work progresses.
- Maintain redline markups and updates to loop diagrams, P&IDs;, and datasheets, reflecting as-found and as-left conditions.
- Turn over complete, organized commissioning documentation to support system handover and client acceptance.

Safety & Compliance

- Work safely under permit-to-work, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and hazardous area requirements at all times.
- Follow EEG and client HSE plans and procedures,



and raise safety concerns proactively.
- Participate in toolbox talks, pre-job safety meetings, and incident reporting as required.

Team & Coordination

- Work closely with commissioning leads, engineering, and field crews to sequence and prioritize testing activities.
- Communicate progress, delays, and technical issues clearly to the Commissioning Manager and project team.
- Support other CCX team members and disciplines as commissioning schedules require.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

- Red Seal or interprovincial certification in Instrumentation or Electrical.
- 3-5+ years of industrial commissioning or maintenance experience; oil and gas or heavy industrial experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of DCS/PLC systems, electrical schematics, and instrument loop diagrams.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;, loop diagrams, single-line diagrams, and datasheets.
- Strong safety mindset, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.

Preferred / Considered an Asset

- Direct commissioning experience on oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial turnarounds or greenfield projects.
- Familiarity with common DCS/PLC platforms used in Alberta industrial facilities.
- Experience with hi-pot, VFD, and EHT testing on medium and low voltage equipment.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu or similar tools for redline markup and field documentation.
- Confined space, working at heights, and other site-specific safety tickets.

Knowledge





- Thorough understanding of electrical and instrumentation commissioning practices across oil & gas, petrochemical, and heavy industrial sectors.
- Familiarity with permit-to-work, LOTO, and hazardous area classification requirements.
- Awareness of the interaction between electrical, instrumentation, and DCS/PLC systems during startup.

Skills

- Loop checking, function testing, calibration, and electrical testing (continuity, motor bumps, VFD, EHT, hi-pot).
- Accurate, real-time completion of checksheets and redline documentation.
- Clear verbal and written communication with commissioning leads, engineering, and client representatives.

Abilities

- Deliver commissioning work safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Work effectively under permit-to-work and hazardous area conditions, following EEG and client safety requirements.
- Adapt to shifting priorities and schedules typical of turnaround and commissioning environments.

Work Location

This is a full-time position based in Alberta, with regular travel to project and turnaround sites across the province. Some projects may require extended stays at site depending on scope and schedule.
