Hyde & Hull LLP is a Calgary-based public accounting firm that has been providing professional services for over 40 years. We have developed a significant practice serving condominium corporations and other not-for-profit organizations throughout Alberta.

We are currently looking for an Accounting / Audit Technician to join our assurance team on a long-term contract basis. This position would be particularly well suited to someone currently working in accounting for a condominium or property management company who is interested in moving into public practice while continuing to use their existing condominium accounting knowledge.

Experience working with condominium corporations is highly valued. Candidates familiar with condominium financial statements, operating and reserve fund accounting, owner receivables, special assessments, chargebacks and property management accounting systems would have a significant advantage.

What you will do

Under the supervision of the partners and senior members of our assurance team, your responsibilities will include:

- Assist with the completion of audit engagements, with a significant focus on condominium corporations and other not-for-profit organizations
- Perform detailed audit procedures over expenses, revenues, accounts receivable, bank accounts, reserve fund activity and other financial statement areas
- Review condominium accounting records and supporting documentation provided by property management companies and condominium boards
- Prepare audit working papers and organize files for completion and review by senior staff




- Communicate directly with property managers, condominium board members and other clients to obtain information and resolve accounting questions
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
- Develop your knowledge of assurance, financial reporting and condominium accounting

What we are looking for: Our ideal candidate will have:
- Accounting education and/or practical accounting experience
- Experience working for a condominium or property management company is strongly preferred
- Familiarity with condominium corporation accounting, including operating funds and reserve funds, is considered a significant asset
- Experience preparing or reviewing monthly financial statements, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger activity
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify unusual or inconsistent accounting transactions
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work independently while also contributing to a small team environment
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple client files
- Good Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word skills
- Previous public accounting or assurance experience is an asset but is not required

Contract Position This is a long-term contract position and is not a T4 employee position. The successful candidate will provide services to Hyde & Hull LLP under a contractor arrangement.
