We are currently seeking an experienced Contract Specialist to support a major AltaGas Project in Prince Rupert, BC. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing project team and play a critical role in contract administration, subcontract management, risk mitigation, and commercial support throughout the project lifecycle.

This position is offered as a 12-month fly-in fly-out contract on a 14 days on / 7 days off rotation, with company-paid travel and accommodations provided.

The Opportunity

As a Contract Specialist, you will provide contractual guidance and commercial support to project management, estimating, operations, accounting, and executive leadership teams. You will be responsible for managing contracts from tender through close-out, identifying and mitigating contractual risks, supporting subcontract procurement activities, and ensuring compliance with project and commercial requirements.

This role is ideal for a construction professional with strong contract administration experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment and contributing to the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Administration & Risk Management

- Provide contractual support and advice to project teams, management, and estimating personnel.
- Review, analyze, and administer project contracts, service agreements, purchase agreements, leases, NDAs, rental agreements, and commercial documents.
- Proactively identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standardized contractual language and commercial processes.
- Support the management of claims, disputes, contract changes, and commercial negotiations.
- Ensure contractual obligations are effectively communicated and flowed down to subcontractors and vendors.





Prime Contract Management

- Assist with the review and administration of prime contracts and client agreements.
- Coordinate with estimating teams during tender phases to review contractual requirements.
- Support insurance, bonding, and commercial compliance requirements.
- Act as a liaison between internal project teams and external stakeholders during contract negotiation and execution.

Subcontract Management

- Manage the full lifecycle of major subcontracts from planning through close-out.
- Prepare bid packages and Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
- Analyze quotations and coordinate commercial evaluations.
- Participate in subcontractor negotiations and commercial discussions.
- Prepare subcontract agreements, amendments, and supporting documentation.
- Verify insurance, bonding, and compliance documentation requirements.
- Monitor subcontract performance and contractual deliverables.
- Review progress billings, change orders, claims, and back charges.
- Support subcontract close-out, holdback release, and final payment processes.

Commercial Support

- Assist with subcontractor and vendor prequalification programs.
- Coordinate with engineering, scheduling, construction, accounting, and project controls teams.
- Maintain accurate contract records and project documentation.
- Support the continuous improvement of commercial processes and systems across VanPile's project portfolio.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

- 5-10 years of contract administration, subcontract management, or commercial experience within a construction environment.
- Strong understanding of construction contract formation and administration.
- Experience working with:
- - CCDC Contracts
- CCA Standard Documents
- Service Agreements
- Consultant Agreements
- Subcontract Agreements

- Knowledge of construction insurance, bonding, and risk management practices.
- Experience supporting major industrial, marine, heavy civil, infrastructure,



or energy projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional negotiation, drafting, proofreading, and document management abilities.

Preferred

- Degree, diploma, or certificate in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Law, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
- Experience working on large-scale industrial or energy projects.
- Knowledge of project controls, claims management, and commercial risk mitigation.

Compensation & Benefits

Market-competitive salary

$90,000 - $120,000 per year

Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and Carlson Construction Group compensation practices.
