Corporate Controller Canada Position SummaryThe Canadian Corporate Controller is the senior accounting leader responsible for the integrity and accuracy of Canadian financial reporting delivery of a four business day close and timely completion of the year end external audit Reporting to the VP Finance Canada this role owns the end to end controllership framework across Total Power Limited including final review and sign off of the monthly quarterly and year end close; partner with FP&A; so actual results are available on time for performance and forecast reportingAudit Accounting Governance and Process DocumentationOwn the external audit process for the Group ensuring all deliverables are complete accurate internally consistent appropriately approved and provided in accordance with the audit timetable to support the issuance of the audited financial statements within 45 calendar days of year endManage all request lists internal owners due dates quality review issue resolution and communication with external auditorsPrepare or review technical accounting memoranda for significant or judgmental matters including revenue recognition estimates provisions leases fixed assets business combinations and other non routine transactionsMaintain current process narratives accounting policies close procedures control documentation and responsibility matrices for significant financial processesMaintain year round audit readiness through supportable reconciliations schedules evidence of review and compliance with ASPE company policies and approval authorities Variance Analysis and Performance ReviewLead the accounting review of monthly results against budget forecast and prior periods and ensure significant variances are understood supported and clearly explainedTranslate financial variances into operational drivers separating timing volume price mix productivity utilization cost accounting estimate and one time impacts where relevantPrepare concise decision useful commentary for the VP Finance Canada and divisional leaders with clear risks opportunities owners and actionsPartner with FP&A; on forecast inputs and performance bridges and maintain Equipment Service and Rental reporting that connects financial results to key operational metrics Divisional Controllership SupportIn collaboration with the VP Finance divisional controllers and business leaders provide corporate accounting oversight and support across the Service Rentals and Equipment divisionsPartner with leaders during monthly operating reviews to explain results challenge assumptions identify performance drivers and align on proactive corrective actionsReview and challenge the accounting for service work in progress revenue and expense cutoff accrued and deferred revenue warranty and other operational accruals inventory usage and cost allocationsReview rental fleet accounting including additions transfers disposals depreciation capitalization judgements asset verification and reconciliation of the fixed asset registerReview gross margin labour recoveryutilization rental fleet utilization maintenance spend unbilled work and aged WIP; identify risks early and drive action with business ownersSupport the other business units in Ottawa and Quebec by providing accounting guidance consistent reporting issue resolution and controllership supportControls Risk and Continuous ImprovementOwn and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting including clear preparer reviewer accountability appropriate segregation of duties evidence standards and timely remediation of deficienciesMonitor balance sheet quality and ensure reconciliations are current substantiated reviewed and free of unresolved or unsupported itemsStandardize accounting practices across entities branches and divisions and remediate recurring adjustments or control gapsPartner with IT and process owners to improve D365 and OneStream data quality controls automation and reporting reliability while reducing offline spreadsheet relianceTeam Leadership and Cross Functional PartnershipLead coach and develop assigned accounting team members;
