Reporting to: Student Retention Liaison
Location: Training and Education Centre
Employment status: Term Employment until June 30, 2027
Job Summary
The role of the cook will involve planning, preparing and delivering light, healthy lunches to school-aged children in the before and after-school program. The cook will ensure the kitchen is clean, sanitized, and always safe.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, cook and prepare light lunch menu items;
- Modify menu items for children with strict food allergies or restrictions;
- Deliver prepared lunches daily to the school;
- Plan menus, determine appropriate food portions for school-aged children;
- Clean, sanitize and maintain kitchen and food preparation areas;
- Order, track and stock food, kitchen supplies and equipment;
- May supervise kitchen helpers;
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Culinary course and/or food service experience, preferred
- Food Handlers Certification required.
- Fluency in Mi’kmaq strongly recommended
- Solid organization and time management skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle
