Duties
- Conduct confidential individual counselling sessions with clients
- Facilitate group trauma informed therapy sessions or workshops focused on sexual abuse trauma, mental health awareness, stress management, or emotional resilience
- Maintain detailed and accurate client records and session notes
- Collaborate with other health professionals, social service workers, or community organizations to coordinate comprehensive support services as required
- Provide crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring client safety and appropriate follow-up actions
- Educate clients about coping mechanisms, mental health resources, and self-care techniques to promote ongoing well-being
- Stay informed about current best practices and participate in ongoing career development
Skills
- Proven experience in counselling or mental health support roles with a strong understanding of therapeutic techniques and trauma informed approaches
- Excellent active listening skills combined with empathetic communication to build trust and rapport with clients
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, discretion, and cultural sensitivity
- Strong organizational skills for managing client records and scheduling appointments efficiently
- Knowledge of relevant ethical standards and confidentiality requirements in counselling practice
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the team
- Certification in counselling or psychotherapy from an accredited body; familiarity with crisis intervention protocols; experience working with diverse populations
