Overview
At Montana's BBQ & Bar, we live and breathe fire-grilled, smoked, and saucy BBQ. As our Culinary Manager, you'll lead our kitchen team to consistently deliver food that meets our highest standards for quality, freshness, and food safety, while operating within an annual volume responsibility ranging from $500,000 to over $5 million.
Responsibilities
- Manage all ongoing operations of the restaurant kitchen, including reporting, KPI tracking, and compliance with local and provincial regulations
- Recruit, train, schedule, and manage performance of hourly kitchen Q-Crew
- Ensure timing, food quality, and consistency standards are met, and quickly resolve Guest complaints
- Lead a kitchen team of 20 or more, including coaching, development, and succession planning
- Monitor and improve KPIs related to food quality and safety, and develop corrective action plans as needed
- Coach and develop Assistant Kitchen Managers/Supervisors through regular coaching, training, and performance appraisals
- Coordinate labour and food cost controls and monitor budgets alongside the General Manager
- Maintain brand and facility standards,
and support successful third-party audits (food safety, health & safety, pest control)
- Ensure compliance with cash and inventory controls and all applicable employment, health & safety, and WHMIS legislation
Qualifications
- Diploma in Culinary Management and/or Kitchen Manager accreditation preferred
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of operational experience in a high-volume kitchen
- Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
- Proven people management and coaching experience
- Strong planning, analytical, and multitasking skills in a quick-paced environment
Physical Requirements
- Majority of shift spent standing in a restaurant kitchen environment
- Regularly required to walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, talk and hear
- Occasionally required to lift boxes and other restaurant service equipment
Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate
- Fort Saskatchewan, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Experience:
- Culinary Manager: 1 year (required)
