THE POSITION The Current Product Engineer supports the continued development, performance and reliability of First Light Safety Products’ existing product portfolio. This role focuses on developing product variants, implementing improvements to products already in production and resolving technical issues identified through manufacturing, service, warranty and field use.

Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Service, the successful candidate will investigate issues, develop practical solutions and ensure product changes are properly tested, documented and released. The role will also contribute to selected new product development activities from initial planning through product launch. We are open to either a mechanical engineer or an experienced engineering technologist whose background aligns with the technical needs of the position.

HOW YOU WILL BE MAKING AN IMPACT

- Develop and implement corrective actions for product issues in collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Service.
- Work with Manufacturing to improve production processes, resolve technical issues and strengthen product manufacturability.

- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to identify and reduce component availability, obsolescence and supply chain risks.
- Create and revise 3D models, drawings, bills of materials and other engineering documentation using established design and release processes.
- Manage engineering changes through the applicable review, approval and ERP release processes.
- Develop clear technical documentation for customers and end users related to product installation, operation, troubleshooting and repair.
- Plan and support prototype builds, product testing and verification activities for new variants and product improvements.
- Contribute to new product development activities including project planning, product requirement development, design reviews and product launches.
- Provide ongoing technical support to internal teams, customers and other stakeholders as required.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

- Product variants and improvements meet defined customer, technical and operational requirements.
- Field, service and warranty issues are investigated thoroughly and supported by clear root-cause findings and practical corrective actions.

- Existing products demonstrate improved reliability, manufacturability, serviceability and cost effectiveness.
- Manufacturing and supply chain risks are identified early and addressed before they significantly affect production or customers.
- Product testing and validation activities confirm that design changes perform as intended and do not create unintended product risks.
- Technical documentation is accurate, practical and understandable for customers, end users and internal teams.
- Product issues, risks and recommendations are communicated clearly to engineering teams and other stakeholders.
- Assigned projects and engineering changes are completed within agreed timelines with limited supervision.
- Strong working relationships are maintained across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and Service.
