As a Customs Compliance Manager, you'll provide enterprise-level leadership, governance, and strategic direction for AMTB’s Customs Compliance Management across all facilities. This management role is accountable for designing, implementing, and sustaining a robust Customs compliance framework that ensures strict adherence to all applicable government rules and regulations while enabling operational efficiency and cost optimization.

Overall Responsibility:

Customs Compliance Manager sets the Customs compliance strategy, establishes objectives and performance metrics, manages risk, and leads cross‑functional and site teams to consistent execution. The role builds and maintains senior‑level relationships with Purchasing, Materials, Finance, Operations, and Government agencies, while promoting AMTB business protocols and global compliance standards across all countries where AMTB.

Accountabilities:

Strategic Leadership & Governance

- Define and lead the AMTB Customs Compliance strategy, governance model, and operating standards across all facilities. • Establish department objectives, KPIs, and reporting to ensure ongoing compliance, transparency, and continuous improvement. • Identify, assess, and mitigate Customs and trade compliance risks, escalating issues to executive leadership as required. • Serve as the enterprise subject matter authority for Customs and trade compliance matters.

Compliance Program Management

- Develop, implement, and oversee Customs Compliance Programs to ensure full conformity with all applicable government rules and regulations. • Lead internal and external Customs compliance audits, ensuring timely corrective actions and sustainable controls. • Oversee the solicitation, completion, validation, and distribution of all required USMCA documentation across facilities. • Direct the management and governance of Temporary Import Bonds (TIBs) and other special trade programs. • Ensure accurate interpretation and application of trade regulations, including COO determinations, HS classification, Incoterms, and valuation.

Systems, Data & Controls

- Provide management oversight for the accuracy, governance, and maintenance of all Customs‑related master data in CMS (MRP system), including COO, HS Codes, and Incoterms. • Establish standard work, internal controls, and review processes to ensure data integrity and audit readiness. • Partner with IT and functional leaders on system enhancements, controls, and reporting related to Customs compliance.





Financial & Budget Management

- Provide management direction regarding financial controls related to Customs activity, ensuring compliance with corporate financial policies and control procedures. • Oversee government duty requirements, including approvals, drawback, and refund programs. • Prepare, manage, and forecast the Customs department operating budget and long‑term cost‑reduction initiatives.

Cross‑Functional & External Leadership

- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with Government agencies, Purchasing, Materials Management, Logistics, Operations, and Finance. • Collaborate with plant leadership to standardize best practices and optimize materials management and logistics processes. • Represent AMTB with external auditors, regulators, and government authorities.

People Leadership & Capability Building

- Provide functional leadership, coaching, and direction to site Customs resources and cross‑functional teams. • Establish training programs and knowledge‑sharing to strengthen Customs compliance capability across the organization. • Lead by example, demonstrating credibility, integrity, accountability, and the ability to motivate teams toward strategic objectives.

Qualifications & Skills:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Customs Compliance, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, USMCA requirements, Temporary Import Bonds (TIBs), HS Codes, Incoterms, and other compliance matters.
- Experience managing and maintaining MRP system (CMS).
- Knowledge of global trade compliance regulations and processes.
- Familiarity with government duty refund processes and drawback programs.
- Solid financial acumen, especially related to duty management and budgeting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and customs management systems.

Compensation Package:

- Salary range: $90,000 - $115,000 annually
- Variable Bonus potential
