Job Summary The Customs Broker / Customs Entry Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting customs documentation to ensure the timely and compliant clearance of import and export shipments. This role requires a valid Canadian Customs Broker License, strong knowledge of CBSA regulations, HS classification, duty/tax calculation, and effective coordination with customers, carriers, and government authorities.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, review, and submit customs entries for import shipments in full compliance with CBSA regulations
- Classify products using accurate HS codes and determine applicable duties and taxes
- Ensure customs entries are filed under a licensed customs broker authority, following internal compliance standards
- Maintain complete and accurate records for customs clearance, audit, and post-entry review purposes
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, warehouse teams, and clients to ensure timely cargo release
- Communicate directly with CBSA officers regarding clarifications, rulings, inspections, or post-entry adjustments
- Monitor customs release status and proactively resolve clearance delays or discrepancies
- Provide professional advisory support to clients on tariff classification, valuation, free trade agreements, and import compliance




- Support internal compliance reviews and continuous improvement of customs processes

Qualifications

- Valid Canadian Customs Broker License (required)
- 1–3+ years of hands-on experience in customs brokerage or import/export operations
- Strong working knowledge of CBSA import procedures, HS classification, valuation, and customs documentation
- Experience using customs brokerage systems such as Descartes / WiseTech / BorderConnect (or similar platforms)
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability in regulatory filings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

(Mandarin is an asset but not required)

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple shipments under time-sensitive conditions

Preferred Skills

- Experience in e-commerce, cross-border, or high-volume clearance environments
- Familiarity with Free Trade Agreements (CUSMA/USMCA), duty relief programs, and temporary import procedures
- Client-facing mindset with strong problem-solving and coordination skills
- Ability to balance compliance requirements with operational efficiency

Work Schedule & Benefits

- Monday to Friday (standard business hours)
- Occasional after-hours coordination based on shipment timelines
