Job Summary

Down East Delivery is a locally owned delivery service connecting customers with restaurants and local businesses throughout Eastern PEI. We are looking for reliable, friendly Independent Contractor Delivery Drivers to help complete local deliveries.

This is a flexible, part-time contract prospect. Drivers use their own vehicle and may accept delivery opportunities based on their availability. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys driving, working independently, and providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

- Pick up food, groceries, retail items, and other approved orders from participating local businesses.
- Deliver orders safely and promptly to customers.
- Handle food and other items carefully during transportation.
- Follow delivery instructions and use GPS/navigation when required.
- Communicate professionally with customers, businesses, and Down East Delivery.
- Confirm pickups and completed deliveries through the company’s dispatch system.
- Keep your vehicle clean, safe, and suitable for deliveries.
- Follow all traffic laws and safe-driving practices.
- Report delivery issues or delays as soon as possible.

Requirements
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Reliable personal vehicle.
- Valid vehicle registration and insurance appropriate for delivery work.




- Reliable smartphone with mobile data.
- Comfortable using GPS/navigation and a delivery/dispatch app.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
- Friendly and professional when interacting with customers and local businesses.
- Good knowledge of Montague and surrounding Eastern PEI communities is an asset.
- Previous delivery experience is an asset but not required.

Compensation This is an independent contractor position. Drivers are paid based on completed deliveries rather than receiving a guaranteed hourly wage. Earnings will vary depending on delivery volume, distance, and availability.

Drivers are responsible for their own vehicle, fuel, insurance, maintenance, and other expenses associated with providing delivery services.

Schedule

Flexible and based on delivery demand. Availability during evenings, weekends, and busy meal periods is an asset.
