Position Summary
CIMT College is seeking an experienced Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level II to join the College as a Lead Instructor for the Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level I and Level II program.
The successful candidate will initially work with the Academics Department to support the setup and operational readiness of the dental laboratory at the Mississauga Campus. This will include identifying required dental equipment, instruments, supplies, software and technology; researching and sourcing vendors; obtaining and reviewing quotations; and assisting with laboratory organization and preparation.
Following program approval and commencement, the position will transition primarily into a Lead Instructor role, with responsibility for delivering theoretical and practical instruction, supervising laboratory activities, demonstrating dental assisting procedures, assessing student competency, and maintaining appropriate instructional and laboratory standards.
The successful candidate must meet the applicable MCURES instructor qualification requirements for the vocation being taught.
Working Hours- Mon to Fri 9am to 2pm
Key Responsibilities
Program and Dental Laboratory Setup
- Work closely with the Academics Department to assist with establishing the Intra-Oral
Dental Assistant Level I and Level II laboratory.
- Review program requirements and identify dental equipment, instruments, materials,
supplies, consumables, PPE and other resources required for practical training.
- Assist with identifying and sourcing dental chairs, operatories, sterilization equipment,
radiography equipment, dental instruments, clinical materials and related laboratory resources.
- Research appropriate dental equipment and supply vendors.
- Obtain and review vendor quotations, product specifications, warranties, service
requirements and other purchasing information.
- Compare vendor options and provide recommendations based on program requirements,
suitability for instruction, functionality, safety and quality.
- Assist with coordinating delivery, installation and organization of dental laboratory
equipment and supplies.
- Support development and maintenance of laboratory equipment lists, supply inventories and
related documentation.
- Assist with determining appropriate quantities of consumable materials required for practical
classroom activities.
- Ensure the laboratory is organized appropriately for instructional use and student practical
training.
- Support the establishment of appropriate sterilization, infection prevention and clinical
safety processes within the teaching laboratory.
- Identify equipment maintenance, servicing, calibration or replacement requirements where
applicable.
- Collaborate with Academics, Campus Management, vendors and other College departments
throughout the laboratory setup process. Dental Software and Technology Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of dental practice management software and digital dental technologies used within the program.
- Have practical knowledge of ABELDent dental practice management software.
- Have practical knowledge of DEXIS Titanium digital imaging technology.
- Have practical knowledge of Carestream RVG digital radiography technology.
- Assist with the setup and instructional readiness of dental software and digital imaging systems used within the program.
- Demonstrate the appropriate use of dental software and digital imaging technology during instructional and laboratory activities.
- Support students in developing familiarity with the dental software and technologies identified within the approved program curriculum.
- Follow appropriate procedures for handling, operation and maintenance of digital dental equipment used for instructional purposes.
- Assist with identifying technical or operational issues involving dental software and equipment and communicate these concerns to the appropriate College department or vendor.
Instructional Responsibilities
- Deliver theoretical and practical instruction for the Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level I and
Level II program in accordance with the approved curriculum.
- Prepare for instructional delivery using College-approved courseware, lesson plans,
laboratory activities and instructional resources.
- Explain dental assisting concepts, terminology, procedures and professional practices clearly
and accurately.
- Demonstrate dental assisting procedures and techniques using appropriate instruments,
materials, equipment and technology.
- Provide hands-on instruction and supervision during dental laboratory activities.
- Demonstrate proper positioning, instrumentation, equipment use and chairside assisting
techniques.
- Provide clear demonstrations before students undertake practical procedures.
- Monitor students closely during laboratory activities to maintain appropriate clinical, safety
and infection prevention practices.
- Provide constructive feedback and corrective instruction during practical skill development.
- Assist students in connecting theoretical knowledge with practical dental assisting
responsibilities.
- Encourage appropriate professional communication, teamwork and workplace behaviours
expected in a dental setting. Infection Prevention and Clinical Safety
- Demonstrate and reinforce appropriate infection prevention and control practices within the
dental laboratory.
- Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for hand hygiene, PPE, cleaning, disinfection
and sterilization.
- Demonstrate safe handling, processing and storage of dental instruments and clinical
materials.
- Ensure students follow laboratory safety procedures and College requirements during all
practical activities.
- Reinforce appropriate handling and use of dental equipment, instruments and radiography
technology.
- Identify unsafe practices and intervene appropriately during laboratory activities.
- Maintain a safe, organized and professional instructional environment.
Student Assessment and Academic Responsibilities
- Administer assignments, quizzes, examinations, practical assessments and other evaluations required by the approved program.
- Assess student practical skills using established assessment criteria and competency
requirements.
- Provide students with clear and constructive feedback regarding their academic and practical
performance.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, practical assessments and student progress.
- Identify students requiring additional academic or practical support and provide appropriate
guidance.
- Communicate student performance or academic concerns to the appropriate College
personnel.
- Ensure assessments are conducted consistently and in accordance with College academic
policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of student academic information and assessment materials.
Lead Instructor Responsibilities
- Provide subject-matter expertise regarding Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Level I and Level II.
- Support consistency in instructional delivery and practical laboratory standards.
- Provide guidance to other instructors regarding laboratory procedures, equipment,
instructional activities and program expectations where required.
- Support instructor orientation to dental laboratory equipment, supplies, software and
technology.
- Assist with maintaining consistency in practical demonstrations and student assessment
practices.
- Identify academic, laboratory, equipment or supply concerns and communicate them to the
appropriate College department.
- Monitor laboratory inventory and identify replenishment requirements for consumable
materials and supplies.
- Identify equipment requiring maintenance, repair, replacement or vendor support.
- Participate in academic meetings, program reviews, instructor meetings and professional
development activities as required.
- Provide feedback regarding opportunities for continuous improvement of instructional and
laboratory processes.
- Support continued alignment between classroom instruction, practical laboratory activities
and the approved curriculum.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a recognized Dental Assisting/Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Level I and
Level II program, or equivalent recognized training appropriate to the vocation.
- Qualification as an Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level II is strongly preferred.
- Relevant occupational experience working as a Dental Assistant in a clinical dental setting.
- Must meet the applicable MCURES instructor qualification requirements for instructors teaching the vocation.
- Candidates qualifying through education and occupational experience must have the applicable recognized educational qualification and at least 24 months of occupational experience in the vocation to be taught, in accordance with MCURES requirements.
- Candidates relying on occupational experience as their qualifying pathway must have at least 48 months of occupational experience in the vocation to be taught, in accordance with MCURES requirements.
- Previous teaching, clinical instruction, preceptorship, mentoring or supervisory experience is considered an asset.
- Experience as a senior, lead or Level II Dental Assistant is considered a strong asset.
Required Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of Intra-Oral Dental Assisting Level I and Level II procedures and
responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, equipment and clinical materials.
- Strong understanding of chairside dental assisting procedures.
- Knowledge of dental laboratory and clinical operative setup and organization.
- Knowledge of sterilization, disinfection, infection prevention and control practices.
- Knowledge of dental radiography equipment and digital imaging technology relevant to the
program.
- Knowledge and practical familiarity with ABELDent.
- Knowledge and practical familiarity with DEXIS Titanium.
- Knowledge and practical familiarity with Carestream RVG.
- Ability to demonstrate the appropriate operation and instructional use of dental equipment
and technology.
- Ability to evaluate dental instruments, equipment, supplies and instructional resources.
- Ability to research vendors, compare quotations and provide recommendations related to
dental laboratory requirements.

Preferred Experience
- Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Current or recent experience working as an Intra-Oral Dental Assistant Level II.
- Experience in both general chairside dental assisting and intra-oral procedures.
- Experience training, supervising, mentoring or precepting Dental Assistants or Dental
Assisting students.
- Experience participating in the setup or organization of a dental clinic, operatory or
educational dental laboratory.
- Experience sourcing dental equipment, instruments, materials or supplies.
- Experience communicating or negotiating with dental suppliers and equipment vendors.
- Practical experience using ABELDent, DEXIS Titanium and Carestream RVG.
- Experience managing dental inventories, sterilization areas, equipment or clinical supplies.
- Experience delivering practical demonstrations or competency-based skills training.

MCURES and provide the documentation required by CIMT College to verify instructor qualifications and occupational experience before being assigned instructional responsibilities.

Pay Details
Base Pay Rate- CAD $25/hr-$32/hr
