Director, Industry Relations & Thought Leadership (1 year Contract)

Role Overview The Director, Industry Relations & Thought Leadership is responsible for convening and engaging IAB Canada’s industry community through its councils and committees. This role will bring together senior stakeholders from across the digital advertising ecosystem to identify emerging issues, facilitate meaningful industry dialogue, and help translate those conversations into valuable insights and resources for IAB Canada members.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of the Canadian digital advertising industry and understands how digital media is planned, bought, sold and measured. They are a confident facilitator and relationship-builder who can engage credibly with stakeholders across agencies, publishers, platforms, ad tech and marketers.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the planning, coordination and ongoing management of IAB Canada’s councils and committees, ensuring each group has a clear mandate, priorities and annual areas of focus.
- Develop thoughtful agendas that reflect current industry challenges, emerging trends and the priorities of council and committee members.
- Convene and facilitate council and committee meetings, creating productive discussion and ensuring conversations lead to explicit next steps and areas of action.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with council and committee members and other senior stakeholders across the Canadian digital advertising ecosystem.
- Identify important themes, challenges and opportunities emerging from council and committee discussions and bring these insights back into IAB Canada’s broader work.
- Partner closely with the Director, Content Strategy to translate industry discussions into meaningful outputs, including reports, guidance, thought leadership, programming and other member resources.




- Work with the Membership Manager to ensure relevant council and committee updates, insights, opportunities and resources are effectively communicated to the broader IAB Canada membership.
- Manage ongoing council and committee communications, including meeting materials, follow-ups, action items and stakeholder engagement between meetings.
- Identify opportunities for collaboration across councils and committees where industry issues or priorities intersect.
- Support IAB Canada in strengthening its role as a trusted convener for the Canadian digital advertising industry.

- Experience & Qualifications

- 8+ years of experience within the digital advertising, media or marketing industry, ideally within the Canadian market.
- Strong working knowledge of the Canadian digital advertising ecosystem and a demonstrated understanding of how digital media is planned, bought and sold.
- Familiarity with the roles of agencies, publishers, platforms, ad tech companies and marketers within the digital advertising supply chain.
- Established industry knowledge and credibility, with the ability to engage confidently with senior executives and subject matter experts.
- Strong facilitation skills and the ability to guide conversations among stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities.
- Excellent relationship management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong editorial and strategic instincts, with the ability to identify the most important themes and insights emerging from industry conversations.
- Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple councils, committees, meetings and workstreams simultaneously.
- Collaborative working style and demonstrated ability to work across functions to turn industry conversations into tangible member value.
