We are partnering with a well-established Canadian seniors care organization to recruit a Director of Care (DOC) for a long-term care home in Red Deer, Alberta. The Opportunity

As Director of Care, you will lead the home's nursing and resident care operations while developing and supporting a high-performing team of healthcare professionals.

This role is ideal for a compassionate and accountable nursing leader who enjoys developing people, improving clinical outcomes and creating an environment where residents, families and team members feel heard, supported and valued.

You will work closely with the home's leadership team and have the chance to influence clinical practice, quality improvement, staffing strategies and the resident experience.

What You'll Lead

- Provide leadership and day-to-day direction to the resident care team, building a positive culture focused on collaboration, accountability and high performance.

- Oversee resident assessments, care planning and clinical programs to ensure individualized, resident-centred care.

- Coach, mentor and develop nursing and care staff while ensuring employees receive the education and training required to succeed in their roles.

- Support recruitment, retention, employee engagement and the ongoing development of a strong clinical team.

- Monitor clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives focused on resident safety, wellness and satisfaction.

- Ensure compliance with provincial healthcare regulations, licensing requirements,



accreditation standards and organizational policies.

- Lead and support investigations, critical incident management, clinical risk mitigation and corrective action planning.

- Partner with residents and families, responding to concerns and feedback with professionalism, empathy and timely follow-through.

- Manage nursing department staffing levels and support budget preparation, financial stewardship and variance analysis.

- Develop operational plans related to clinical services and staffing that align with the home's broader strategic priorities.

- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, community health partners and external vendors to enhance resident care and clinical practice.

- Use clinical and operational data to identify opportunities, measure performance and continuously improve outcomes.

What You Bring

- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent nursing degree; Master's degree is considered an asset.

- Current and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA), or eligibility to obtain Alberta registration.

- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience.

- Minimum 2 years of leadership experience within long-term care or another healthcare environment.

- Strong understanding of long-term care operations, clinical standards, regulatory compliance and resident-centred care.

- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop nursing teams.

- Experience with quality improvement initiatives and improving clinical or resident outcomes.

- Strong communication, relationship-building and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, employees, physicians and interdisciplinary partners.





- Comfortable using electronic health records and other healthcare technology.
