STORY BEHIND THE NEED

Reason for Request/Why Opened:

Backfill contract position to support the ongoing management of permanent disability claims and ensure continued eligibility verification for claimants.

Scope of Project:

Manage and monitor permanent disability claims, obtain and review medical documentation, conduct claimant interviews, assess ongoing eligibility for benefits, maintain accurate claim records, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

Training Period:

Structured onboarding program with approximately 3 weeks of training covering disability claims processes, systems, policies, procedures, and claim management practices.

ADMIN/CLERICAL ONLY

Back-Office vs Telephone Work:

Hybrid role with a combination of administrative and telephone-based responsibilities. The position involves frequent communication with claimants, physicians, case managers, and other stakeholders while also performing claim monitoring, documentation review, and record maintenance.

CANDIDATE PROFILE DETAILS

Degree/Certifications Required:

- Postsecondary education required (any field of study).
- Additional education or training in healthcare, medical terminology, disability management, or insurance is considered an asset.

Years of Overall Experience:

- Minimum 2 years of administrative experience preferred.
- Experience in disability claims, insurance, healthcare, benefits administration, or a related field is highly desirable.

Preferred Candidate Background:

- Disability claims administration.
- Insurance, benefits, or healthcare industry experience.
- Bilingual in French and English.
- Strong customer service and case management exposure.




- Experience reviewing medical documentation and interpreting policy provisions.

SUMMARY OF DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage and monitor permanent disability claims.
- Request, review, and assess medical reports and supporting documentation.
- Conduct telephone interviews with claimants to gather information and verify eligibility.
- Communicate regularly with physicians, case managers, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate ongoing eligibility for disability benefits.
- Interpret policy provisions and determine their impact on claims decisions.
- Escalate complex cases to appropriate case managers or resources as required.
- Maintain accurate claim records, documentation, and updates.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while managing multiple priorities.
- Ensure timely follow-up, claim updates, and stakeholder communication.

MUST-HAVE HARD SKILLS 1.) Bilingual in French and English (written and verbal).

2.) Experience reviewing and evaluating medical documentation, disability claims, insurance claims, or healthcare-related information .

3.) Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite , particularly Excel , Windows applications, and data/document management systems.

SOFT SKILLS

1.) Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

2.) Strong verbal and written communication skills, including confidence conducting frequent telephone interviews and stakeholder discussions.

3.) Sound judgment, analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a solid customer service orientation.

NICE-TO-HAVE

1.) Experience in disability management, insurance benefits administration, or claims processing.

2.) Medical, healthcare, clinical, or medical terminology knowledge.

3.) Experience using claims management systems such as Navigator or similar claims administration platforms.
