WE’RE HIRING: DAY SCHOOL COACH

Do you have a passion for dogs, a solid understanding of canine behaviour, and love the idea of spending your days helping dogs learn, grow, and have a freaking great time?

Suburban Paws is looking for a Day School Coach to join our team!

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work with a small group of up to 6 dogs per day, creating an enriching, positive setting where dogs can be dogs while also building the skills they need for everyday life.

What you'll be doing

- Caring for and working with a group of up to 6 dogs per day
- Ensuring each dog's physical, mental, and emotional needs are being met
- Providing enrichment, play, rest, and appropriate social opportunities
- Working with dogs indoors and outdoors throughout the day
- Building practical life skills through everyday interactions and activities
- Using positive reinforcement to teach and reinforce skills naturally throughout the day
- Observing and responding to canine body language and communication
- Adjusting activities and environments based on each dog's individual needs
- Helping dogs develop confidence, emotional regulation, appropriate social skills, and independence
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment

What we're looking for: At least 2 years of experience working hands-on with dogs is required.

Most importantly, you MUST:

- Have a strong understanding of canine body language and communication
- Be able to recognize signs of stress, discomfort, over-arousal, and appropriate social interaction




- Have experience using positive reinforcement-based training methods
- Understand that behaviour is communication and know how to support dogs rather than simply suppress behaviour
- Be comfortable managing a small group of dogs safely and thoughtfully
- Be reliable, observant, energetic, and genuinely passionate about canine welfare
- Be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
- Be willing to learn and continue developing your knowledge of dogs and behaviour
