Description

The Hospital Driver operates the hospital vehicles and transports cargo and/or passengers. This person will also maintain vehicle upkeep and cleanliness.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Operates passenger cars and other light automotive equipment in transporting patients, employees, other personnel, equipment, and supplies to designated locations.
- Picks up passengers, patients, equipment, loads and unloads baggage and supplies to designated locations.
- Checks automotive equipment to determine that it is supplied with fuel and lubricants, that tires are properly inflated, and lights and safety devices are in proper order.
- Communicates problems/issues with vehicle to supervisor.
- Changes tires and makes minor repairs and adjustments to the vehicle, or take to local automotive shop to have repairs completed.
- Cleans interior and exterior of the vehicle, including waxing and polishing of exterior surfaces.




- Signs for materials received and obtains receipts for materials delivered.
- Maintains trip records of all information required by operating procedures.
- Operates all vehicles according to traffic laws and regulations and demonstrates safe driving practices.
- Ability to judge speed and distance of approaching vehicles and to operate passenger cars carefully and safely.
- Ability to detect faulty equipment operation and conditions dangerous to self and fellow employees, and to take corrective action.
- All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior qualified driving experience preferred.

Position Factors

Must have a safe driving record; Must have and maintain valid Virgin Islands driver’s license and follow all driving laws, rules, and regulations.
