Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Electric Motor Rewinder to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, disassembling, rewinding, repairing, and testing electric motors, generators, transformers, and related electrical equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and diagnose electric motors and electrical equipment to determine repair and rewinding requirements.
- Disassemble and reassemble AC and DC motors, generators, pumps, and related equipment.
- Remove existing windings and prepare stators, rotors, and armatures for rewinding.
- Measure and record winding specifications, including wire size, turns, coil dimensions, connections, and insulation requirements.
- Wind and install coils according to specifications and manufacturer requirements.
- Perform insulation, lacing, soldering, brazing, and lead connection work.
- Install and secure windings using appropriate insulation materials, varnishes, and resins.
- Perform electrical and mechanical testing, including resistance, continuity, insulation, and surge testing as required.
- perform mechanical repairs when required.
- Identify defective components and recommend appropriate repairs or replacement.
- Maintain accurate job records, measurements, and repair documentation.
- Operate shop equipment, tools, winding machines, ovens, and testing equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures, quality standards, and applicable electrical requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience as an Electric Motor Rewinder is required.
- Strong knowledge of electric motor construction, winding techniques, and electrical components.
- Ability to read and interpret motor nameplates, winding diagrams, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Experience with AC/DC motors, generators, pumps, and industrial electrical equipment is an asset.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Positive attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to use electrical testing equipment and precision measuring tools.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Physically capable of lifting and handling motors and equipment safely.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
