About the Role
Niche Development Corporation is seeking a highly motivated Qualified Electrical Engineer (P.Eng.) with experience in multifamily residential developments and building systems design. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of multifamily, mixed-use, and specialized infrastructure projects throughout Alberta.
This position offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects involving cogeneration systems, energy-efficient buildings, distributed generation, telecommunications infrastructure, and wireless communication systems.
QualificationsRequired
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta or eligible for registration.
- Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience in multifamily residential or mixed-use developments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Electrical power distribution systems
- Lighting and controls
- Emergency power systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Building code and electrical code compliance
- Experience coordinating with architects, mechanical engineers, contractors, and utility providers.
- Proficiency with electrical design and drafting software.
Preferred
- Experience designing or integrating cogeneration (CHP) systems, microgeneration, or energy recovery systems.
- Experience with telecommunications infrastructure design, including structured cabling, fiber optic networks, and communication systems.
- Knowledge of utility interconnection requirements and distributed energy resources.
- Experience with multifamily rental, condominium, or mixed-use developments.
Assets
- Wireless communication design experience.
- Experience with cellular,
DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems), Wi-Fi, or private wireless network design.
- Energy modeling and sustainability experience.
- Project management experience.
- Familiarity with CMHC and energy-efficiency programs.
Responsibilities
- Design and oversee electrical systems for multifamily residential and mixed-use developments.
- Lead electrical engineering from concept through construction.
- Develop drawings, specifications, reports, and permit documentation.
- Coordinate utility services and service upgrade requirements.
- Support cogeneration and energy-efficiency initiatives.
- Design and coordinate telecommunications and communication systems.
- Review shop drawings and respond to construction-related inquiries.
- Conduct site visits and provide construction administration support.
- Collaborate with internal project managers, consultants, and contractors.
