Primary Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Senior Foreman, Maintenance, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the Company’s automation and instrumentation systems in the Grande Prairie and Fox Creek areas. This is a full-time position based in Grande Prairie, and the Company will consider either an employee or a direct contractor for the role.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure maintenance activities are conducted to meet industry regulatory guidelines and comply with the Company’s corporate safety procedures.
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain instrumentation equipment such as:
- Measurement devices;
- Electronic and pneumatic compressor controls;
- Process controls;
- SCADA/PLC/HMI hardware and software
- Provide communication to field operators, Foreman, Production Operations Manager and operations on the status of instrumentation equipment.
- Work closely with field operations and provide guidance and timely service when required for maintenance issues.
- Assist in development of the maintenance system to monitor equipment maintenance intervals.
- Suggest improvement strategies to reduce costs and implement new approaches when necessary.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining the budget for instrumentation maintenance activities.
- Support and guide Facilities Projects from the field level.
- Implement and manage the Electrical QMP program.
Position Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience working with compressor panels, plant and well control systems, SCADA, fire and gas detection, and transmitters.
- Comprehensive understanding of the safety aspects of oil and gas equipment, i.e. you can recognize hazards, faulty equipment or potential risks for incidents.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and commitment to adhere to work-safe policies and procedures.
- Experience using CMMS programs.
- Knowledge of SCADA systems.
- Willingness to support reporting documentation requirements necessary to manage the safety, OPEX, and compliance duties associated with the position.
- Possess strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, but also have the autonomy to work independently.
- Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, and able to establish goals and objectives within designated time frames.
- Ability to solve problems and effectively identify issues to develop and implement solutions for resolution.
- Display a high-level of integrity in all actions,
complying with and promoting the company’s core values, a respectful work workplace, and aligning with the code of business conduct.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and operate effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment.
- As a direct contractor, you provide your own truck, tools and equipment.
Qualifications
- Electrician Certification with Instrumentation experience is desired.
- Red Seal Instrumentation Certificate with 5 years of Journeyman experience will be considered.
- 5-8 years of Electrical or instrumentation experience in Oil & Gas.
- Valid Class 5-GDL license with a clean driving record.
- Up-to-date certification in H2S and First Aid is preferred.
- Must have a certificate of incorporation, WCB coverage, and appropriate insurance if contracting.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
