About the Job:
Kent is looking for an Electrician/Telecom Technician to support telecommunications systems and infrastructure at Kearl. This is a site-based role, working within the plant telecom team and supporting a wide range of telecom activities including security systems, fiber optics, communication infrastructure and electrical scopes as required. This position operates on a 14/14 FIFO rotation from Edmonton or Calgary, working day shifts in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, and configuration of hardware and software components.
- Perform troubleshooting, hardware, and software issues on a different system.
- Perform installation, troubleshooting and repair of Card Access Systems which include panels, cards, cabling, and all associated programming in Genetec Platform.
- Perform installation of Digital Camera’s and associated cabling and hardware with options of interfacing them onto the Genetec System.
- Assist other telecom disciplines with other scopes.
- Assist with Fiber Optic systems.
- Perform installation/decommissioning of electrical systems.
In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.

All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Qualification/ Certification:
- Certificate and/or relevant courses in telecommunications
- Journeyman Electrician Certification
- Knowledge and Experience utilizing the Genetec Security Platform
- Knowledge and Experience in Digital Security Camera’s including but not limited to Hernis, Axis and Avigilon.
- Knowledge of Tyco Safety systems (PAGA).
Communication
- Clear verbal and written English communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a client-facing, team-based environment.
