Summary The Environmental Coordinator supports the environmental team in ensuring site activities comply with regulatory requirements, permits, and environmental plans. Reporting to the Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, this role assists with field monitoring, data collection, report preparation, and the implementation of environmental management procedures.

Coordinator helps promote environmental awareness on site and contributes to Keno Hill’s commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices.

About Us

The Keno Hill mine, located within the Keno Hill Silver District in Canada’s Yukon Territory. Keno Hill, is one of the highest-grade silver districts in the world, is situated 350 kilometres north of Whitehorse, and lies within the traditional territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun. It comprises 242 square kilometres (km2) with numerous mineral deposits and more than 35 historical past-producing mine sites. Keno Hill is expected to produce ~3 million ounces of silver in 2026. The mine is owned and operated by Hecla Mining Company, headquartered in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Established in 1891, Hecla has a rich history as a distinguished and respected precious metals producer. Duties and Responsibilities:

- Promotes awareness and support of the Company’s environmental rules, procedures, and polices.

- Supports the Senior Environmental Coordinator in the coordination of all environmental programs.

- Participates in field inspections with regulatory agency personnel, ensuring duplicate samples are collected and observations made by the regulators are promptly conveyed to management.

- Conducts and/or ensures completion of weekly physical inspections as required by Company permit and license conditions.

- Conducts and/or ensures completion of weekly inspections hazardous materials handling and special waste storage areas.

- Oversees the preparation of special waste for transfer off-site.

- Delivers environmental training to site personnel including but not limited to wildlife awareness, noise and dust monitoring, solid and special waste management, spill response and proper laboratory sample packaging and shipping.

- Coordinates logistical requirements for consultants conducting various environmental monitoring activities.

- Assists the Water Treatment, Geology and Metallurgy Departments in conducting environmental monitoring activities from time to time.





- Reviews site activities for environmental non-conformances and contributes to continuous improvement of environment-related processes and procedures, including inspecting work areas and ensuring environmental safeguards (i.e., spill kits) are put in place and being maintained.

- Advises management and supervisory staff on environmental issues, ensuring that environmental objectives are achieved.

- Assists the Senior Environmental Coordinator in implementing and maintain reporting structures that monitor compliance with all Company permit and license conditions.

- Assists the Senior Environmental Coordinator with completion of administrative and reporting requirements of the mine site Environmental Department as required.

- Promotes team building at all levels and a respectful cross-cultural work environment.

- All other related duties as may be required by the Company.

Qualifications

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in environmental or mining related field preferred.
- 1-3 years of environmental work experience, preferably in the mining industry.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of Government acts and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and work well under pressure.
- Proficient in Microsoft office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Pre-employment Requirements:

- Pre-Employment Testing (drug & alcohol, blood lead, and audiogram)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Clean Driver’s Abstract

Safety, Health, Environmental Responsibilities and Accountabilities

- Complying with all necessary requirements put in place to prevent safety or environmental incidents, injuries, or losses.

- Ensuring all spills are reported in accordance with spill reporting procedures.

eliminating, and reporting hazards as soon as practicable.
- Reporting incidents and accidents as soon as practicable.
- Disclosing all information regarding incidents and cooperating in incident investigations.
- Assisting in the resolution of health and safety matters in a positive and timely manner.
- Using and maintaining PPE.
- Providing suggestions for improving work processes.
- Assisting Management by supporting change to achieve desired targets.
- Ensuring that plant and equipment operate within their secure working limits.
- Ensuring that correct equipment is used for the job.
- Participating in risk assessment methodology.
- Participating in safety initiatives.
- Receiving training and instruction as required.
- Maintaining good housekeeping standards

Work Setting

Employees will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including snow and ice, as well as extreme temperatures ranging from cold to warm. The work environment may involve contact with potentially hazardous wildlife, moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the use of explosives. There is also a risk of electrical shock and exposure to vibration. Noise levels can occasionally be loud, depending on the task or location on site.

Work Location & Schedule

This is a fly-in fly-out position based at a remote mining camp, operating on a rotational schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off. Camp accommodations and meals are provided while on site. All travel to and from the mine site is arranged through a designated travel agency and coordinated from approved flight hubs.

To ensure efficient travel logistics, we are primarily seeking candidates who reside in the Yukon, British Columbia, and Alberta, particularly near major transportation centers within these regions.
