About the Opportunity

Most estimating departments hire because something broke. This one is hiring because more of the work is being won before the drawings are finished.

Our client is a Vaughan-based general contractor pricing institutional, commercial, industrial and multi-unit residential buildings between $15M and $200M+. Their estimating group has been in place a long time and the core of it hasn’t turned over, which is worth saying out loud in this market. What has changed is the delivery mix.

A larger share of pursuits now comes through construction management and other cooperative contracts, where the estimate is built alongside the owner and consultant team over months rather than priced against a closing date. That work takes more pre-construction capacity at two levels, so they are adding one Senior Estimator and one Estimator. Both are additions.

Neither is a replacement.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Pricing ICI buildings from $15M to $200M+: institutional, commercial, industrial, multi-unit residential. The portfolio does not repeat itself
- A real mix of hard bid and collaborative delivery, including CM and design-build, where you are inside the pursuit from early design rather than reacting to a finished set
- Working directly with the project team who will build the job. You are not passing a number over a wall to people you never speak to again
- Carrying your pursuits end to end: quantity take-off, trade scope, subcontractor coverage, constructability input, and presenting your number to leadership yourself
- A seat in the go/no-go conversation. You get a view on what gets chased, not just what gets priced

About You The successful candidate will have the following:

Senior Estimator

- You have carried $50M+ ICI pursuits on your own from invitation to award, and you can defend every line of your number in front of an owner
- You have worked at least one model where the price was not locked at bid close: CM, IPD, design-build, or open-book target price




- You know which trades in this market can actually deliver the scope right now, not just which ones return calls
- You have brought a junior estimator along without being asked to

Estimator

- Roughly three to seven years pricing ICI buildings at a general contractor, owning take-offs and trade scope on your own packages
- You want access to the collaborative side of the work and your current seat has not given it to you
- You are comfortable arguing constructability with a project manager before the number is locked

About the Job

- Based in the Vaughan office. This estimating department works as a room, not an inbox, and that is deliberate
- A department that already works. You are being added to capacity, not brought in to repair something
- Estimating treated as a client-facing function on collaborative pursuits, not a back-office bid desk
- Continuity from estimate through construction, so you find out whether you were right
- A firm where the people making pursuit decisions are the same people accountable for how the job finishes
- Competitive base plus bonus and full benefits, calibrated to level. We will be specific about numbers on the first call rather than posting a band that fits neither seat
- Senior Estimator Salary Range: $120,000 to $160,000
- Estimator Salary Range: $105,000 to $145,000
