Production Manager – Window & Door Manufacturing
Design Windows and Doors is seeking an experienced Production Manager with an established background in window and door manufacturing and production management. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for overseeing the production of windows and doors from raw materials through fabrication, assembly, quality control, and final readiness for installation.
The ideal candidate has direct experience managing a window and door manufacturing operation and understands the complete production process, including material selection, frame fabrication, cutting and glazing glass, hardware installation, assembly, quality testing, production scheduling, inventory, and production efficiency.
While residential window and door installation experience is valuable, proven window and door production management experience is the primary qualification for this position.
The successful candidate will lead production personnel, establish and monitor production schedules, maintain quality standards, manage materials and inventory, identify production issues, and ensure finished products meet specifications and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Window & Door Production Management
- Oversee day-to-day production of residential windows and doors from raw materials through completed products.
- Manage production schedules, workflow, staffing, and production priorities to meet customer and installation deadlines.

- Oversee fabrication and assembly processes for window and door products.
- Monitor processes including frame fabrication, cutting, glazing, hardware installation, assembly, finishing, and final preparation.
- Ensure production employees follow established procedures, specifications, and quality standards.
- Identify production bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and material issues and implement corrective action.
- Monitor production capacity and adjust schedules and resources as needed.
- Ensure completed windows and doors are properly prepared and ready for installation.
Quality Control
- Establish and maintain quality-control standards throughout the production process.
- Inspect finished windows and doors to verify dimensions, specifications, workmanship, operation, appearance, and overall quality.
- Ensure glass, frames, hardware, and other components are properly fabricated and assembled.
- Coordinate testing and inspection of completed products before they leave production.
- Identify defects and determine appropriate corrective action.
- Track recurring production and quality issues and implement process improvements to reduce rework, waste, and callbacks.
- Ensure products meet company standards and applicable manufacturer specifications.
Materials & Inventory Management
- Manage raw materials, glass, frames, hardware, components, and other production supplies.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production schedules.
- Coordinate receiving, storage,
organization, and distribution of production materials.
- Monitor material usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste and production costs.
- Conduct inventory audits and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding material availability, quality issues, shortages, and delivery schedules.
Production Team Leadership

- Address production errors, performance concerns, and procedural issues promptly.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Installation & Field Coordination
- Work closely with installation and field teams to ensure finished products meet installation requirements.
- Coordinate with production and installation personnel regarding measurements, specifications, product requirements, and scheduling.
- Review field issues that may indicate production, fabrication, measurement, or quality problems.
- Help troubleshoot installation issues and identify opportunities to improve production processes.
- Conduct or participate in job-site visits when necessary.
- Installation experience is preferred, but the primary focus of this position is window and door production management.
Operational Management
- Monitor production schedules, labor efficiency, material usage, quality metrics, and operational KPIs.
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, inventory information, and job documentation.
- Monitor labor and material costs and work to maintain production within established budgets.
