Role Description The Extruder Operator is a full-time, on-site role based at Ampacet’s facility in Kitchener, ON. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring extrusion equipment to produce masterbatch products according to established specifications and quality standards. Day-to-day tasks include preparing raw materials, loading and adjusting extruders, checking product quality, recording production data, and performing basic equipment cleaning and minor adjustments.
The Extruder
Operator works closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to maintain safe work practices, minimize downtime, and meet production schedules.
The role also involves following standard operating procedures, adhering to safety and environmental regulations, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Experience operating extrusion or similar plastics processing equipment, with the ability to set up, start, stop, and adjust machines safely and efficiently.
- Basic mechanical aptitude, including troubleshooting minor equipment issues, performing routine checks, and coordinating with maintenance when needed.
- Knowledge of production and quality control processes, including reading work orders, following specifications, performing visual and dimensional inspections, and documenting results.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for handling raw materials, tracking batches, and maintaining accurate production records.
- Ability to work in a quick-paced manufacturing environment, stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and follow all safety, health, and environmental guidelines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team and across shifts.
- Prior experience in plastics, chemicals, or industrial manufacturing is an asset; familiarity with masterbatch or color concentrates is beneficial.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training in manufacturing or industrial operations is a plus.
