Overview
Stanchieri Family Law is seeking a Family Law Clerk with at least three years of experience to join our legal team. The successful candidate will support multiple lawyers on client matters involving varying levels of complexity, conflict, and urgency. The role offers ongoing mentorship, including regular training, guidance, and feedback from senior clerks.
This position is suited to a law clerk who is genuinely interested in family law, takes ownership of their work, and can manage competing priorities and deadlines across multiple client matters. The successful candidate will be proactive, reliable, and professional when working with clients, colleagues, opposing parties, court staff, and service providers, and will bring maturity and perspective to their work. High-conflict matters and litigation will be a significant part of the role.
Responsibilities
- Preparing court documents, financial statements, briefs, and other family law documents
- Working with clients to obtain, review, and organize financial disclosure, supporting documents, and other information required for their matters
- Managing court dates, deadlines, filing requirements, and other important dates across multiple client matters
- Communicating and following up with clients, opposing counsel, court staff,
and other service providers
- Preparing and filing court documents through online platforms and coordinating service with process servers where required
- Maintaining organized and up-to-date client files, correspondence, documents, and records
- Recording billable time accurately and consistently
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a family law clerk in Ontario, preferably within the GTA
- Post-secondary education in a relevant law clerk or paralegal program
- Ability to support multiple lawyers while independently managing responsibilities, priorities, and deadlines
- Proficiency in document preparation, including financial statements and supporting documents
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Robust working knowledge of Ontario family court rules, procedures, filing requirements, and deadlines
