JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our team and take ownership of key day-to-day and month-end accounting activities for operations in Canada, the United States, and potentially other international markets.

Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, this is a hands-on accounting role with a strong focus on monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and accurate financial reporting.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of their responsibilities, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accounting work is completed accurately and on time.



The successful candidate will initially learn our existing processes and will be expected to become increasingly independent as they develop their knowledge of the business.

This role offers exposure to multiple areas of the business and an opportunity to expand into more complex accounting and financial responsibilities over time.

This is primarily an in-office position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Own the preparation of monthly journal entries
- Prepare and maintain monthly account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Manage assigned month-end close activities and ensure they are completed accurately and on time
- Review accounts for unusual transactions, discrepancies, and required adjustments
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records
- Assist with monthly and annual financial reporting packages
- Support year-end activities and external reporting requirements
- Support compliance with IFRS standards
- Assist with accounting and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions
- Maintain accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Support project accounting and tracking as required
- Assist with annual budgeting and monthly budget-to-actual reporting
- Provide reliable financial information and supporting detail for management analysis
- Work closely with the other team members on accounting and cross-functional initiatives
- Take on additional accounting responsibilities as knowledge and experience grow

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

- 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including hands-on month-end responsibilities
- Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
- Good understanding of accrual accounting and accounting principles
- Experience supporting month-end and year-end close
- Strong Excel skills,



including formulas and pivot tables
- Experience working with accounting software; Sage Intacct experience is considered an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to investigate issues rather than simply identify them
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage recurring deadlines and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in an oil and gas service environment is considered an asset

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE The successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of our monthly accounting processes and become the primary owner of their assigned areas. Over time, we expect this person to:

- Complete recurring journal entries and reconciliations independently and accurately
- Maintain organized, well-supported accounting schedules
- Identify and resolve discrepancies before month-end reporting
- Meet close deadlines consistently
- Understand the transactions behind the numbers rather than simply processing entries
- Bring questions and unusual items to the Corporate Controller with appropriate supporting information
- Identify opportunities to improve and streamline accounting processes
- Take on broader responsibilities as their knowledge of the business grows

THE OPPORTUNITY This position is well suited to an accountant who has developed a solid accounting foundation and is ready for greater ownership.

You will work directly with the Corporate Controller, gain exposure to Canadian and U.S. operations, and develop a broader understanding of the financial and operational aspects of the business.
