note: this is an equity role until funding secured (in progress), materials available on request. Part-time, global remote, English fluency required. Understanding of non-determonistic and AI programming highly valued.
Company Description SelfActual is building AI applications that are deeply personalized through private self-knowledge vaults, rather than generic user profiles. Its products—Imprint, Atlas, and soon Wisdom—create a persistent, portable model of how individuals think and work, and map their strengths, patterns, and decisions across frameworks for better coaching and collaboration. By letting people selectively share their self-knowledge, SelfActual enables teams to coordinate more effectively without surveillance or invasive profiling.
The underlying vault is built on W3C Solid, ensuring personal data sovereignty, portability, and privacy by default. SelfActual is live, building in public, and focused on redefining how individuals and teams work with AI that truly knows them.
Role Description The Founding CTO will be responsible for setting and executing the technical vision for SelfActual in a full-time, remote capacity. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading software architecture decisions, overseeing end-to-end product development for Imprint, Atlas, and future offerings, and driving a secure, scalable implementation of W3C Solid-based personal data vaults. The role involves hands-on software development, building and mentoring a high-performing engineering team, and establishing best practices for code quality, infrastructure, and security.
The Founding CTO will collaborate closely with the founding team on product strategy,
roadmap planning, technical prioritization, and experimentation to deliver fast, reliable, user-centric AI experiences. This role also includes evaluating current technologies, managing technical risk, and ensuring that the platform remains privacy-preserving, extensible, and aligned with the company’s mission of data sovereignty and self-knowledge.
