The firm embeds female executives such as CEOs, CFOs, CPOs, and COOs directly into client organizations for a limited number of days per month, providing focused leadership and clear accountability. Based in Ottawa, Altevere has strong roots across Ontario, Northern Ontario, and Atlantic Canada and is actively expanding into underserved markets including Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Role Description Independant Contractor The Fractional COO role at Altevere is a contract, remote position focused on providing operational leadership to multiple client organizations. Day-to-day responsibilities may include assessing existing operations, designing scalable processes, and implementing performance metrics across functional areas such as finance, HR, and service delivery. The Fractional COO will collaborate closely with client CEOs and other executives to set priorities, manage strategic initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.

Typical activities include leading cross-functional meetings, overseeing project execution, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring alignment between long-term strategy and day-to-day operations. The role requires clear communication,



structured reporting to clients, and the ability to work effectively within varying organizational cultures while maintaining professional boundaries and timelines.

Qualifications

- Proven experience in senior operations leadership (COO, VP Operations, or equivalent), with a track record of improving processes, scalability, and organizational efficiency.
- Strong strategic planning and execution skills, including the ability to translate high-level goals into practical roadmaps, KPIs, and operating rhythms.
- Demonstrated capability in change management, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration within SMEs or high-growth environments.
- Robust financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and interpreting operational and financial performance data.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at executive, management, and frontline levels.
- Comfort working in a fractional or consulting capacity, managing multiple clients, priorities, and timelines while maintaining high professional standards.
- Experience with work from home tools and practices, and the ability to lead distributed or hybrid teams effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance, or a related field; an MBA or comparable advanced education is an asset.
- Familiarity with the Canadian SME landscape and regional markets (Ontario, Northern Ontario, Atlantic Canada, Prairie provinces) is beneficial.
