Join a dynamic telecommunications project as a Freelance Software Engineer, working on a fixed-term, on-site contract in Gatineau, Quebec, through Q1 2027. You will play a key role in migrating virtual machines from CentOS 7 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and upgrading legacy 32-bit C++ subsystems to 64-bit architecture. This position is ideal for an experienced C++ developer with a strong background in Linux environments, system testing, and DevOps tooling, who thrives in high-availability, real-time system settings.

Deliverables

- Migrate virtual machines from CentOS 7 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
- Upgrade 32-bit C++ subsystems to 64-bit architecture
- Support system testing, release management, and security remediation
- Update and maintain CI/CD and DevOps tooling (TeamCity, Jenkins, GitHub, Perforce)
- Modernize Java-based web configurators
- Conduct security testing and implement remediation measures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless migration and system stability

Requirements

- Minimum 5 years of professional C++/C development experience




- Advanced proficiency in Linux environments and bash scripting
- Robust understanding of networking, virtualization, and security best practices
- Experience with high-availability, real-time systems is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Python, Java, C#, TeamCity, Perforce, Jenkins, and GitHub is a plus
- Background in telephony infrastructure or telecommunications projects is advantageous
- Legally entitled to work in Canada and able to work on-site in Gatineau, Quebec
