About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Principal Front-end Engineer to lead the future of user interface development at Questrade. This strategic, hands-on technical leadership position involves defining and executing the architectural vision for our next-generation front-end applications across mobile and web platforms. The successful candidate will primarily focus on React Native for mobile development and possess strong expertise in Angular for web applications.

As a key member of our engineering leadership team, you will mentor talented developers, champion best practices, and drive innovation to ensure our platforms deliver seamless, high-performance, and world-class user experiences.

Your role will also involve collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX designers, and other engineering leaders, to influence product roadmaps and technical strategies.

Qualifications

- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on front-end development
- Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
- Deep expertise in React Native for mobile application development
- Strong experience with Angular for web application development
- Proven experience designing, building, and scaling high-traffic, complex front-end applications
- Hands-on knowledge of front-end architecture patterns, state management libraries (e.g., Redux, NgRx), and build tools
- Experience with real-time data streaming technologies such as WebSockets
- Ability to optimize application performance, including memory profiling and bundle size reduction
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills with a track record of guiding engineering teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience with back-end development using NodeJS is a plus
- Knowledge of system design principles and data storage solutions

Responsibilities

- Define and execute the long-term technical vision and strategy for front-end applications across mobile and web platforms
- Lead the architectural design and development of high-performance, scalable front-end solutions using React Native and Angular




- Make critical technology decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance
- Mentor and coach front-end engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimizing real-time data streaming and application responsiveness
- Establish and enforce front-end engineering best practices, including code quality, testing strategies, and CI/CD processes
- Spearhead research and adoption of new front-end technologies and frameworks to keep platforms modern and competitive
- Champion the integration of AI tools and technologies to enhance developer productivity and application features
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to influence product development and ensure seamless platform integration
- Address complex technical challenges related to cross-platform compatibility, performance, and state management at scale
