We are seeking a skilled and experienced Gasfitter A to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of natural gas and fuel gas systems and associated equipment.
The Gasfitter A will work closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, and other trades to ensure gas systems are safe, reliable, compliant, and operating efficiently.
Competitive hourly rate with daily overtime; Annual Range: $125,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair natural gas and fuel gas systems and associated equipment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on gas distribution systems, piping, valves, regulators, meters, appliances, and combustion equipment.
- Install and service gas-fired equipment, including furnaces, boilers, heaters, burners, and other industrial appliances .
- Diagnose and repair gas system leaks, pressure issues, control problems, and equipment malfunctions.
- Perform gas pressure testing, leak testing, system inspections, and commissioning activities.
- Read and interpret drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, specifications, and gas system layouts.
- Complete piping installations and modifications in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and site requirements.
- Inspect gas systems and equipment to identify deficiencies and potential safety hazards.
- Adjust, test, and verify gas-fired equipment to ensure protected and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot associated electrical, mechanical, ignition, and control components as required.
- Support equipment start-ups, shutdowns, commissioning, and operational handovers.
- Complete required maintenance records, inspection reports, work orders, and documentation.
- Coordinate work with operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and other trades.
- Participate in preventative maintenance programs and reliability initiatives.
- Respond to gas-related equipment breakdowns and emergencies as required.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable legislation, codes, standards, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid Gasfitter A certification/licence recognized by the applicable provincial authority.
- Journeyperson certification or equivalent recognized trade qualification.
- Experience working with natural gas, fuel gas, and industrial gas systems.
- Experience installing, servicing, and troubleshooting gas-fired equipment.
- Strong understanding of gas piping, regulators, valves, pressure controls, combustion systems, and safety devices.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping layouts, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in an industrial, commercial, construction, mining, or heavy-industrial environment is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's license, where required.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team.

Safety & Compliance Safety is a core responsibility of this position. The Gasfitter A will be expected to:
- Follow all applicable gas codes, regulations, legislation, and company safety procedures.
- Complete required permits, isolations, inspections, and testing before and during work.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions, gas leaks, equipment deficiencies, and potential hazards.
- Use appropriate PPE and follow lockout/tagout and energy-isolation procedures.
- Ensure gas systems are properly tested and verified before being returned to service.
Working Conditions
- Work may be performed in industrial facilities, mechanical rooms, workshops, construction areas, and outdoor environments.
- May require working at heights, in confined spaces, and around operating mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, fuels, gases, and other industrial conditions may occur.
- May require overtime, emergency call-outs, or flexible scheduling depending on operational requirements.
- Must be physically capable of performing the requirements of the position, including lifting, climbing, bending, and working in various positions.
