General Labourer / Shop HandPosition Summary The General Labourer / Shop Hand provides hands-on support within our countertop fabrication operation. This position assists with the handling, preparation, finishing, organization, and movement of countertop materials and finished products.

The role is primarily shop-based but may also provide support to the yard, installation crews, shipping/receiving, and other areas of the operation as required. The successful candidate will be safety-conscious, dependable, physically capable, and willing to assist wherever needed to keep work moving efficiently.

Key ResponsibilitiesShop & Fabrication Support

- Assist with the handling, movement, and preparation of granite, quartz, porcelain, natural stone, and other countertop materials.
- Perform polishing, hand finishing, sanding, grinding, cleaning, touch-ups, and other finishing work as trained and assigned.
- Assist fabricators and machine operators with material preparation and production activities.
- Sort, organize, label, and stage countertop pieces, remnants, materials, tools, and supplies.
- Prepare finished countertops and components for installation, pickup, or delivery.
- Inspect materials and finished pieces for visible damage, defects, or finishing concerns and report issues to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist with lifting, carrying, moving, and positioning heavy countertop pieces using proper lifting techniques and appropriate equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized workstations and production areas.
- Clean tools, equipment, work surfaces, racks, and shop areas as required.
- Assist with general shop maintenance and housekeeping.

Yard & Material Handling Support
- Assist yard staff with receiving, organizing, moving, and staging slabs, remnants, supplies, and other materials.
- Help load and unload trucks, trailers, delivery vehicles, and material shipments as required.
- Assist with maintaining organized material storage and yard areas.




- Support inventory counts, material identification, and general organization as requested.
- Operate material-handling equipment only when properly trained and authorized.

Installation & Field Support
- Assist installation crews when additional labour or support is required.
- Help load vehicles and prepare countertops, tools, equipment, and supplies for installations.
- Assist with carrying and safely moving countertop pieces into customer homes, businesses, or job sites.
- Provide general labour and installation assistance under the direction of experienced installers.
- Protect finished products and customer property while handling or moving materials.
- Maintain professional and respectful conduct when working at customer locations.

General Duties
- Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures, and safe-work practices.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workplace.
- Report hazards, damaged equipment, product damage, quality concerns, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Work cooperatively with fabrication, installation, yard, warehouse, sales, and other team members.
- Assist in other departments or operational areas when additional support is required.
- Perform other general labour, shop, yard, delivery, installation-support, or related duties as reasonably assigned.

Physical Requirements This is a physically demanding position. Employees must be able to:
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical tasks.




- Lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment throughout the workday.
- Participate in team lifting and movement of large and heavy countertop pieces.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, material-handling equipment, and other equipment appropriate to the position following training.
- Work in a shop environment that may include noise, dust, water, wet surfaces, machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Work outdoors or at customer/job-site locations when supporting yard or installation activities.

Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in general labour, construction, manufacturing, stone fabrication, woodworking, installation, or a similar hands-on environment is an asset but not required.
- Comfortable performing physically demanding work.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling finished products.
- Ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn countertop fabrication, polishing, finishing, material handling, and installation-support techniques.
- Commitment to safe work practices and maintaining an organized workplace.
- Flexibility to assist in different areas of the business based on production and operational requirements.

Work Environment This is a hands-on and wide-ranging position. While the employee will generally work within the fabrication shop, duties may change from day to day depending on production schedules, installations, deliveries, staffing requirements, and other operational needs.

The employee may be required to assist with shop production, material handling, yard operations, loading and unloading, installation support, cleanup, or other reasonable duties consistent with a general labour position.

Pay: $17.60-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25.0 – 35.0 per week
