General Manager – Kelseys Original Roadhouse Vaughan

Location: Vaughan, Ontario

Position: Full-Time General Manager

Schedule: Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Position Overview

Kelseys Original Roadhouse Vaughan is seeking an experienced, highly organized, and hands-on General Manager to lead our restaurant.

The General Manager is responsible for the restaurant’s overall performance, including daily operations, financial results, guest satisfaction, food quality, team development, and compliance with Kelseys brand standards.

A major responsibility of this position is ensuring that all restaurant systems are operational, properly maintained, consistently completed, and functioning as intended. The successful candidate must be comfortable holding managers and team members accountable while remaining actively involved in daily operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesRestaurant Systems and Operational Standards

- Ensure all restaurant systems, checklists, reporting tools, and operational programs are functioning and completed accurately.
- Maintain and oversee daily prep and pull lists.
- Ensure line checks are completed thoroughly and at the required times.
- Maintain opening, closing, shift-change, and manager checklists.
- Ensure proper food preparation, portioning, labelling, dating, rotation, and storage.
- Maintain recipe specifications, plating standards, portion controls, and brand-approved procedures.
- Ensure the kitchen line is clean, organized, fully stocked, and prepared for each service period.
- Maintain the restaurant’s Period Binder and ensure all required documentation is complete and current.
- Conduct regular operational audits and immediately address incomplete or ineffective systems.
- Ensure all equipment, technology, and restaurant facilities remain operational and properly maintained.
- Maintain compliance with food-safety, workplace-safety, liquor-service, and employment standards.

Sales and Financial Performance
- Review Average Guest Cheque reports and implement strategies to improve sales performance.
- Review Kicked Up reports and coach the team on suggestive selling and promotional execution.
- Monitor weekly sales, labour, food costs, discounts, waste, productivity, and controllable expenses.
- Prepare schedules that meet operational needs while achieving labour targets.
- Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and cost controls.
- Identify opportunities to increase guest traffic, average cheque, takeout, catering,



and overall restaurant sales.
- Take ownership of the restaurant’s financial and operational results.

Team Leadership and Development
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, coach, and retain high-performing team members.
- Provide clear direction and accountability to the management team.
- Lead by example and remain visible and actively involved during peak service periods.
- Complete regular performance reviews, coaching conversations, and corrective actions when required.
- Maintain the Krew website and ensure employee information is accurate and current.
- Maintain the Krew Licensing Program and ensure all team members complete the required training and certifications.
- Monitor and follow up on online training and development programs.
- Build a positive, respectful, motivated, and performance-driven workplace culture.
- Ensure managers and team members understand their responsibilities and consistently meet expectations.

Guest Experience
- Create a welcoming environment and ensure every guest receives friendly, accurate, and attentive service.
- Monitor guest feedback, restaurant reviews, and service-recovery opportunities.
- Address guest concerns professionally and take appropriate corrective action.
- Coach the team on hospitality, menu knowledge, suggestive selling, speed of service, and accuracy.
- Develop strategies to improve guest satisfaction, repeat visits, and community reputation.

Brand and Head Office Responsibilities
- Maintain Kelseys standard operating procedures, recipes, specifications, and brand expectations.
- Attend required Head Office meetings, training sessions, and conference calls.
- Implement Head Office initiatives, menu launches, promotions, and operational updates.
- Communicate important information from Head Office to the management team and restaurant staff.
- Complete required reports and submit information accurately and on time.
- Maintain robust communication with the franchisee, Head Office, suppliers, and service providers.

Qualifications
- Previous General Manager or senior restaurant-management experience is required.




- Experience managing a full-service, high-volume restaurant is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of restaurant financials, including sales, labour, food cost, inventory, and controllable expenses.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and maintain operational systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Highly organized, dependable, and consistent with follow-up.
- Comfortable holding managers and team members accountable.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong computer, scheduling, reporting, and administrative skills.
- Valid Smart Serve certification is required.
- Valid food-handler certification is required or must be obtained.
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
