The Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Ottawa, managed by Atlific Hotels, is looking for an experienced and dynamic Hotel Operations Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our hotel.

Our hotel with 182 rooms and 5,000 square feet of event space is located right in the heart of the Historic ByWard Market district. Our property also offers a fitness center, heated indoor pool, Bistro and business center.

As Hotel Operations Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the hotel while delivering an exceptional guest experience. You will oversee Front Office, Food & Beverage and Housekeeping, working closely with department leaders to maintain high standards of service, quality and operational performance.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a hospitality professional who enjoys being present on the floor, leading teams, solving problems and making a positive impact on the overall guest experience.

Your Responsibilities

- Oversee the daily operations of Front Office, Food & Beverage and Housekeeping to ensure consistent service and operational excellence.
- Work closely with department leaders to coordinate activities, improve communication and ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
- Establish and maintain effective procedures to support service quality, productivity and consistency.
- Monitor guest feedback and satisfaction, taking appropriate action to address concerns and improve the overall guest experience.
- Support departmental budgeting, labour management and expense control while identifying opportunities to improve operational results.
- Recruit, coach, motivate and develop employees, fostering a positive, professional and team-oriented work environment.
- Attend management meetings, lead and facilitate hotel operations meetings, and effectively communicate key information to the appropriate teams.
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, brand standards, health and safety requirements and applicable legislation.
- Conduct regular operational inspections and follow up on identified issues to ensure standards are maintained.




- Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, service providers and local business partners.
- Maintain scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs, including participating in Manager-on-Duty shifts and working evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
- Actively contribute to employee engagement initiatives, including participation on the Social Committee.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager and act as the General Manager’s designate in their absence.

What you bring to the team

- Minimum 5 years of management experience in hotel operations.
- Experience overseeing multiple hotel departments, ideally including Front Office, Food & Beverage and Housekeeping.
- Robust leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach and develop diverse teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a practical and solutions-oriented approach.
- Good understanding of hotel financial performance, labour management and cost control.
- Proficiency with hotel management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and hospitality best practices.
- A strong commitment to guest satisfaction and service excellence.
- Ability to work in a rapid-paced environment and adapt to changing operational priorities.
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Business Administration or a related field is an asset.
- Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.
