THE ROLE As an embedded CANSOFCOM researcher, you will strengthen the readiness, resilience, and physical capability of Canada’s elite military personnel through operationally focused human performance research. Reporting to the Human Performance Research & Development Officer, you will conduct laboratory and field assessments in austere and extreme environments and operate specialized equipment, instrumentation, and software.
The resulting evidence will inform training, selection, physical employment standards, and operational decisions. You will design studies and methodologies and implement policies and procedures to research, validate, and modernize physical employment standards, ensuring they remain scientifically defensible and operationally relevant. Across concurrent projects, you will coordinate research; collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate human performance data; You will mobilize knowledge through educational and promotional materials,
translating scientific findings into operational application.
You will also support personnel and budget administration for a research program that advances human performance readiness and future capability. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge science alongside military personnel, researchers, and performance specialists, directly influencing selection, training, and operational capability. Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Sciences or a related field AND some years of experience in a related field Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Sciences or a related field AND several years of experience in a related field Current Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
certification In conducting and supervising physical fitness programs and training sessions In designing and delivering specialized fitness training sessions for selection processes In developing and implementing training sessions and programs based on evaluation results In developing and implementing policies and procedures for physical fitness evaluations, programs and training In developing, producing and publishing promotional materials In data collection and compilation of research data In planning and conducting presentations LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS English Essential or French Essential.
