About The Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated Human Resources Business Partner to join our HR team at our Waterloo Corporate office. The HR Business Partner (HRBP) for Shared Services will play a pivotal role in providing strategic and operational HR support to our shared service departments. Reporting directly to the Regional Human Resource Manager, the HRBP will collaborate closely with leaders at all organizational levels within their assigned client group to develop and implement effective people management strategies.
This role serves as the primary point of contact for all employee-related matters within the portfolio, ensuring alignment between business objectives and HR initiatives, policies, and programs. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive HR generalist experience, sound judgment, and excellent interpersonal skills, combined with a thorough understanding of employment legislation. This is a full-time position based out of our Waterloo office, offering an prospect to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Qualifications The successful candidate will hold a university or college degree/diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field. A CHRP or CHRL designation is preferred. Candidates should have between 3 to 5 years of experience across multiple HR disciplines, ideally within large, multi-site, unionized environments.
Experience in the healthcare or homecare sector is considered an asset. The role requires high personal integrity and a strong commitment to ethical practices. Candidates must demonstrate a customer service-oriented mindset, strong leadership and relationship-building skills, and the ability to influence and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Excellent communication skills, both tactful and professional, are essential for engaging effectively at all organizational levels. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email is required. A clear background check is also mandatory to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Business Partnership
- Provide expert advice, coaching, and support to managers and employees on employee relations issues.
- Conduct thorough workplace investigations related to policy violations, complaints, conflicts, harassment, and performance concerns.
- Facilitate conflict resolution processes and promote positive workplace relationships.
- Advise leaders on progressive discipline, performance management, and corrective action procedures.
- Identify and mitigate employee relations risks while ensuring compliance with employment laws and organizational policies.
- Support organizational change initiatives, including restructuring and workforce transitions.
- Act as the primary HR contact for shared service departments, providing strategic consultation on workforce planning, employee development, and succession planning.
- Analyze workforce data and HR metrics to inform decision-making and improve organizational effectiveness.
- Participate in company projects aimed at enhancing organizational performance and employee experience.
Recruitment, Onboarding, and Employee Integration
- Lead end-to-end recruitment processes for shared service positions,
partnering with hiring managers to determine staffing needs and strategies.
- Guide the Talent Acquisition team in posting jobs, sourcing candidates, and managing the selection process.
- Develop compelling job advertisements and utilize various recruitment channels to attract qualified candidates.
- Screen resumes, conduct interviews, and facilitate candidate selection and employment offers.
- Oversee background checks and pre-employment requirements to ensure seamless onboarding.
- Monitor recruitment metrics and implement process improvements for efficient hiring.
- Coordinate onboarding activities, including HR orientations and integration plans, to ensure a positive new hire experience.
- Partner with leaders to develop effective onboarding strategies that promote engagement and retention during the initial employment phase.
- Ensure new employees have the necessary tools, resources, and information to succeed in their roles.
Disability and Attendance Management
- Manage disability claims, medical leaves, accommodations, and return-to-work plans in collaboration with leaders, benefits teams, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with legislative requirements and organizational policies related to attendance, disability, and accommodations.
- Monitor employee absences, disability claims, and attendance trends, providing proactive interventions when necessary.
- Support leaders in addressing attendance concerns, managing absences, and facilitating employee reintegration.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to disability and attendance activities.
HR Policy &
Management
- Develop, review, and implement HR policies, procedures, and guidelines in partnership with HR leadership.
- Ensure policies comply with employment standards, human rights legislation, privacy laws, and workplace regulations.
- Interpret and communicate HR policies clearly to management and staff.
- Recommend policy updates based on legislative changes and best practices.
- Lead policy education initiatives to promote awareness and adherence.
- Develop, maintain, and update job descriptions for CarePartners roles, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
