Role Description The Independent Freight Broker role is a full-time remote position responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing freight movements between shippers and carriers. Day-to-day activities include building and maintaining customer and carrier relationships, coordinating load details, and ensuring timely pickup and delivery. The broker will handle rate negotiations, load tendering, and problem resolution, while monitoring shipments and updating stakeholders as needed.
This role also involves prospecting new business opportunities, managing a book of accounts, and maintaining accurate records in transportation management systems. The position requires proactive communication,
robust organizational skills, and a focus on service quality and profitability.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in Freight Brokerage and Brokerage, with experience arranging and managing freight movements.
- Strong Customer Service skills, including responsive communication and effective issue resolution.
- Experience in Dispatching, coordinating loads, and managing carrier schedules and routing.
- Account Management capabilities, such as maintaining client relationships, growing accounts, and tracking performance.
- Knowledge of transportation and logistics operations, including North American trucking and freight markets.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and handle multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems and standard office software tools.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Relevant experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation; industry certifications are an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, logistics, or a related field is an advantage.
