Job Title: Inside Technical Sales (“Company” or “Roctest”)
Reports To: Roctest Sales & Marketing Manager
Position Summary The Inside Technical Sales professional is responsible for supporting revenue growth across the United States and Canada by managing inbound customer inquiries primarily through phone and email, developing and maintaining customer and distributor relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting customers throughout the sales cycle. The ideal candidate is a customer-focused, technically minded qualified who delivers timely, accurate, and positive interactions while understanding customer requirements and providing appropriate sensing and monitoring solutions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, initiative, and follow-through, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical customers, engineering firms, contractors, project owners, distributors, and other stakeholders.
This position is based in St-Lambert, Quebec.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve or exceed assigned sales objectives and revenue targets across the United States and Canada.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, engineering firms, contractors, project owners, consultants, universities, and government agencies.
- Respond promptly and professionally to inbound customer inquiries by phone and email, providing accurate product and application information.
- Proactively develop new business through prospecting, cold calling, networking, referrals, market research, and other lead-generation activities.
- Identify, track, and develop project opportunities from early-stage discussions through quotation and order placement.
- Maintain regular contact with project decision-makers and other stakeholders throughout the sales cycle.
- Prepare accurate quotations, proposals, and supporting documentation designed to maximize order conversion.
- Promptly follow up on sales leads, quotations, opportunities,
and orders.
- Work with customers and engineering firms to understand monitoring requirements and identify appropriate Roctest sensing solutions.
- Provide pre-sales technical assistance, product information, demonstrations, and training to customers and distributors.
- Support distributor relationships by providing product information, sales support, training, and chance follow-up.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Service, and other internal teams as required to support customer requirements and successful project execution.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including customer contacts, opportunities, quotations, activities, and communication history.
- Support the Sales & Marketing Manager in maintaining accurate sales forecasts, pipeline visibility, and sales reporting.
- Stay current on Roctest products, applications, technologies, and relevant industry developments.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends and provide feedback to support sales and marketing initiatives.
- Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and customer events as required.
- Assist with on-site product installations, service, or calibration activities when required.
- Support accounts receivable activities and customer follow-up as requested.
- Perform other duties as reasonably required by Company Management.
Experience, Skills and Education
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales, inside sales, applications sales, or a related customer-facing technical role.
- Degree or technical qualification in Engineering, Science, Instrumentation,
or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant industry experience will also be considered.
- Experience selling instrumentation, sensors, monitoring systems, test and measurement technologies, or related technical products preferred.
- Experience in geotechnical instrumentation, structural monitoring, civil engineering, construction, or related industries is an asset.
- Good understanding of instrumentation devices and the ability to learn and communicate technical product and application information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Strong customer relationship, presentation, and consultative selling skills.
- Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into appropriate technical and commercial solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities, quotations, and customer requirements simultaneously.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and modern business software tools, including Microsoft Office.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through in managing customer inquiries, quotations, opportunities, and orders.
- Ability to travel periodically within the United States and Canada for customer meetings, trade shows, training, and other business activities.
- Ability to work from the St-Lambert, Quebec office.
