Instructor

- - - Position Summary

Provide a positive experience on snow while teaching group and individual lessons to Snow valley’s guests. Not only will instructors work with students, but also with guests and other employees, helping Snow Valley provide the best possible service. *Must be certified by CSIA, PSIC, or CASI

Specific Accountabilities

- Teach fun, student-centered lessons that build confidence and develop students skiing and/or snowboarding abilities. Work with students to achieve their goals.
- Provide clear demonstrations to illustrate concepts and tactics throughout each lessons.
- Assess participant’s skill level, evaluate student progress. Organize groups when required.
- Ensure the safety of everyone in the group through proper class management and responsible decisions.
- Complete quality progress reports for students as required.
- Help maintain and promote a safe workplace by following protected work practices.
- When appropriate, advise guests on equipment and proper clothing.
- Develop working relationships with snow valley guests, professional peers and staff.
- Maintain current, nationally recognized certification, and remain current in industry changes and innovations.
- Participate in ongoing training related to your sport.
- Provide a safe, uncluttered, litter-free environment.
- Be knowledgeable on the products and services Snow Valley offers to maintain our guest service standards.
- Handle all inquiries and complaints in a professional and competent manner, communicate guest related problems to School management.
- Be aware of promotional and special events, school booking, corporate and group functions in order to help direct guests for these events.
- Act in a responsible manner while representing snow valley. Abide by and adhere to the policies and procedures of the company.

or you may draw upon the help of other staff members to help you achieve your goals. Through this type of environment, we ensure our organization is coherent and operated efficiently.
- Perform other tasks when required as directed by Snow School management.

- Formal training and/or experience teaching Snow Sports.

Working Conditions

- This position is seasonal and includes working on weeknights, weekends and holidays, shifts of varying lengths based on business levels.
- Must work a minimum of 40 hours per season.
- Exposed to changes of temperature from work both indoors and outdoors.
- May lift, push or carry students weighing over 50 pounds on a frequent basis.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements A background in physical education or experience in teaching or having reached the competitive level of your sport is an asset. Instructors are required to have and maintain nationally recognized certification (CSIA, PSIC, or CASI) by payment of dues and attendance at recall. Employee must pass a vulnerable sector police information check.

Health and Safety Hazards

Identified health and safety hazards associated with this position include: strain from lifting, falls, collisions with skier and snowboarders, slipping, tripping and exposure to extreme and varying temperature.
